Has anyone replaced the outside temperature sensor on a Hymer?

I've just noticed the other post re temperature on Fiat Ducato.
The one I'm referring to is just for the temperature readout on the DT 201 internal panel over the door. It not really important but I just like everything to work.

Have you had a good look around underneath, ours is just fastened to the flat floor and then written in felt tip it says outside temp sensor, but just realised it was built in Germany and the writing is English so dont know who did it.

Anyway if you have a look around you might find it.

Best of luck.

Should have said our is a Niesmann Flair not Hymer but same idea.

Thanks, I could only get under part of it today. Will try again tomorrow.
I've been told by Spinney that they can't repair it. So I thought I would have a have a look myself.

we have a Hymer, the outside temp display on the controller seems to make up is own numbers, usually massively over reading

I reckon ours is on the roof in direct sun !!

Ours is completely Kaput! I think it's reading -40deg. Has anyone replaced one of these sensors?
Rather tied up yesterday with selling our Autosleeper Amethyst. Sold it to a lovely couple. Felt quite sad as we have put a lot of time and effort into restoring it. Now we need concentrate on our Hymer. Buying another 85 cm Oyster Vision Satellite, solar panels and Avtex TV as I included all these in the sale.
Forgot to mention the purchaser will become Funsters and the bonus is Paul plays the guitar and Uke.

Congratulations with your new van.

Now, replacing the sensor is hard work and pointless. Go to the garden an find a nice rock ( one with a hole in would be ideal)

Find a piece of string

Hang it from your wing mirror and leave over night. Then follow these instructions:-

  • If the rock is wet, it's raining.
  • If the rock is swinging, the wind is blowing.
  • If the rock casts a shadow, the sun is shining.
  • If the rock does not cast a shadow and is not wet, the sky is cloudy.
  • If the rock is not visible, it is foggy.
  • If the rock is white, it is snowing.
  • If the rock is coated with ice, there is a frost.
  • If the ice is thick, it's a heavy frost.
  • If the rock is bouncing, there is an earthquake.
  • If the rock is under water, there is a flood.
  • If the rock is warm, it is sunny.
  • If the rock is missing, there was a tornado.
  • If the rock is wet and swinging violently, there is a hurricane.
  • If the rock has white splats on it, watch out for birds.
Simply remember to secure the weather rock before driving.

Eddie

Thanks Eddie, I had considered one of those donkeys, usually sold in Blackpool. They are an improvement on the bit of string as thoughtfully, they have the instructions printed on the saddle.
Thanks for reminding me.

Brian.

On my old MH the temperature gauge always read -40. I never found it and thought perhaps it had never had one. (Dethless but very similar to the Hymer you have)

I had an issue with the external temp reading on the dt202 panel in my Hymer . It read +60?

I assumed it was the sensor itself that was faulty , but whilst checking it again the other day, I looked at the wiring diagram again! And the previous owner had disconnected it an replaced it on the wrong plug! Moral of this story, check the wiring diagrams and don’t assume the plug is in the correct place, as like mine it wasn’t. Works fine now!
