I am heartbroken by the events of the last 24 hours

My wonderful, kind, funny, loving husband was tragically killed yesterday morning in a motorbike accident. He was 52

He was enjoying an organised biking tour of Europe (Cannonball Bike Run) and had a terrible collision with a car on a mountain pass in Slovenia

He has always been a daredevil...but a sensible one....he took part in Dakar Rallies and the Transoriental in the past. This trip was very tame compared to his previous adventures, he was a calm, placid biker not a race freak

So, our motorhome dream is over, it lasted just 9 weeks or so. It was our escape plan for our retirement and is something we planned to do together.

I do not want to do it alone, it was all about us. I have asked the dealers to buy it back from me.....I need it off my driveway because I can't look at it without my heart breaking

I am numb but just trying to get myself amd our two daughters through it

You are very brave to have written this post so soon after your tragic loss.
I'm sure that there are no words that will offer you any real comfort right now, so I'm not even going to try, other than to say that you are in our thoughts.
    Regards
    Robert

    Thank you Robert

I can do very little at the moment until the Embassy in Slovenia contact me to make repatriation arrangements so I have too much time on my hands and am looking for things to fill the time

I had been excitedly posting all our our mini adventures on here so it feels right to post about it being finished. I don't do Facebook or Twitter so this is the nearest I get to social media

I was up at 5 this morning.....couldn't sleep....and am just filling the time until the stampede of family and friends arrive

Sad, sad news. Very sorry to hear of your loss.

I can understand your immediate feelings towards your motorhome, but it may be worth giving it a little time and you may feeling different about things when the initial shock is over. Maybe put the van into storage for a while and see how you feel after a few months.

Jacky, so sorry to read such awful, awful news. Please keep in touch on the forum and as others have said don't rush into anything - you may think differently in the months to come. For now just remember everyone will be thinking of you and your girls.

I honestly do not know what to say that could possibly change the way you and the girls are feeling right now, just know that everyone who reads this thread will be feeling the very deepest sadness for you.

Hi Jacky, only just noticed your from the same part of the world as us (Cannock) I recently gave up biking, seen my mate get took off his bike by a car driver who did a U turn in the road really made me think, Ive been knocked off myself a few times an been catapulted down the road but its not about the bikes - its the idiots on the road who cant be bothered to look, My heart goes out to you and your family, we have just took up our dream recently in a PVC and now the kids have grown up our lives seem to be planned out every year with touring around, its what we had always dreamed of doing together - and reading your post made me think back to why i sold my bike, I always used to be thinking "what if" and our dreams would have been shattered too - am so sorry to hear this about your hubby - stay strong for the family, they need you to be their rock.:cry:
