Hi, we are picking up our 'new to us' Bessacar E635 (2009) tomorrow and staying overnight in it - bringing with us just our sleeping bags and pillows and not much else! We intend to make a comprehensive list of things we need whilst actually 'living' in it. Then we will come home the next day, collect /buy what we think are 'essentials', collect our dogs and head off for a week to a destination undecided as yet! Ideas welcome - we live in the North West of England.

We would really welcome your ideas as to what you consider 'essentials' to add to our packing list.

Also, We would love to bring our recliner chairs but as we don't have a 'garage' or storage box (as yet) we aren't sure how to transport them (gosh we really are Motorhome newbies aren't we!)

Thank you in advance for your help

Still trucking and learning
If you're not staying on a site for your first night make sure there is some water and gas and toilet rolls in the van before you leave the dealers or whereever you have bought it from.

Have a great first night and happy trucking.

Welcome to 'Fun'.
Regarding recliners; we don't use the Luton (above cab) for sleeping so have taken out the mattress etc and store our chairs up there. Our bedrolls (kingsize duvets + pillows) are rolled up into a draw string bag made for the job and they go up there as well.

I would certainly be packing some food and some crockery and cutlery to eat it from! plus of course cups and/or glasses for drinks.

I don't the layout of your MH but the recliners may be able to be stored in the shower whilst travelling and then under the van once set up or as namwaldog said in the luton.

Enjoy your van.

Hi.gif
and a warm welcome from us.
Depending on where you are staying, you may need a torch for the last visit to the toilet/shower block as not all campsites have adequate lighting at night. Also, an umbrella for those visits if it's raining. (Hope it won't be for your first trip.)
  • Kitchen roll and tissues
  • Can Opener
  • Duct Tape (emergency repairs)
  • WD40 and or 3in1 oil
  • Portable radio & spare batteries.
  • Dustpan and brush
  • Sun Tan Lotion/Insect Repellant
We hope you have a good first night.

Thank you for your replies - much appreciated. We are staying overnight in the caravan site attached to the dealer. We felt that would be a good idea as if we have any problems they are on hand to help.

I've got a plastic storage box on the go and have taken all the above advice on board - thank you
