Righty ho, who is / are the best people to contact for me to get a new awning gearbox?
mine did the “ clicky “ thing the last time I wound it back in! I only just managed to get it wound back in and I dare not use it again until I’ve replaced it.
I’m not going abroad to the factory so I can’t get new metal gearing so I need someone in the UK please. Ta. (y)

Well they seem like a complete waste of time! I tried phoning at least 8 times with no answer, even leaving messages, so eventually went on their website and sent them an email instead. They replied asking for a number and pictures which I duly sent 8 days ago………. Nothing.
So, anyone else I can try instead. They clearly aren’t interested in my small but potentially bigger custom?

Well, after getting no reply from Rose Awnings I decided to just turn up on their doorstep unannounced. They can’t ignore me then when a 9m motorhome darkens their doorstep! :giggle:
Anyhow, the lack of contact was purely down to one of the family having some severe health issues. The son was there on his own because his dad was tending full time to the severely ill family member. The poor lad was struggling to just keep up with work that was already booked in and really didn’t have time for any new work. So after a brief conversation he also diagnosed it was a knackered gearbox but didn’t have time to fit it. No problem I told him, I’ll take one away with me and have a go at fitting it myself. Seeing as he was half way through another job he said he’d dig one out when he’s finished. Perfect, I wasn’t in a rush. (y)
After about 15 mins he appeared at my Hab door, hands me a gearbox and said it was free of charge! I said no way, I’m definitely paying for it. He then said his card machine was not working! I didn’t have the £80 cash on me so I said I’d go to the campsite for the night and pop back the next day and pay for it. He replied don’t worry about it. I think the poor lad was a bit stressed out. :(
Anyhow, the next morning I got some cash out of a machine, got my KTM 390 out of my garage and went back, very much to his surprise, and paid for it! (y) I could’ve got a gearbox for free but that’s not how I do things. I certainly don’t take advantage of people.
So, if you need anything awning related DEFINITELY go to Rose Awnings! (y)(y) I really can’t recommend them highly enough! Give it a week or so first though! (y)
