Hi, I go in for a double hernia op tommorrow. I have a week away in three weeks time so I am looking for a site for a week with plenty of flattish walks and public transport if I am not up to walking. Peferably within 3 hrs of North Yorkshire. Any ideas please?

Can't help with the campsite, but we hope the op goes well for you.:thumb:

Best wishes for the op Ken.

The area round the CC site at Southport (just under 3 hours away) is pretty flat and plenty of public transport being more or less right in the town.

Ken,

No idea about the walk ( I don't do *that* word), but just a quick note to wish you all the best in your recovery. I'm sure you'll be back standing at the bar soon!

There is another site at southport with excellent facilities, very flat and the bus picks up and drops off on the site. Cant remember the name of it but I will get it and post it.

They are doing a special shortly and they will store your van for free for the winter.

Good Luck with the op !!!!

Waterfront Country Park near Gainsborough should be in your 3 hour limit. It's good round there for flat walking. Site is right next to canal and river Trent. Not sure about public transport as don't use it.

Thanks for that. Had a great week, walked about 40 miles in total over 5 days all flat. Ready to take on the hills now. :thumb:

Not the most photogenic area but got this one on the canal just outside Misterton

Love to John. The way Social have set up the carers we get every third week off. This runs from Monday till the following Sunday. We've checked next years shows and not one fits our week off  We will be watching other meets and will hope to see you all again at one of them as we really enjoyed the company at Newark this year. :thumb:

We'll be seeing Geo in May when we go for the annual service though. :thumb:

Really nice photo of the Kingfisher, never seem to be able to catch the one here.
