Careful folks. Had this happen to the wall covering behind the hob tonight when cooking.
Had the rear glass protector up but clearly the heat managed to get round the edge of it.
Really annoyed with this šŸ˜”šŸ˜”

That does look bad, and I would have thought that your window frame and blind are quite vulnerable too. We have a similar cooker top but a bigger gap between the wall behind and the burners.

I make a point of always cooking with the window slightly ajar and the blind open, even if it's just boiling a kettle in the middle of winter.

I have noticed you get quite a build up of heat behind the glass, especially if you have the oven on as well as the hob burners

The window was open at the time. The flysceeen was down but window open.
We have used that right rear burner before without an issue so donā€™t understand what happened tonight to be different. But it is a serious worry. Obviously a design flaw.

Thanks for the hugs folks. šŸ™ means a lot.

The boss is devastated about it even though it was me cooking. She loves Betsy more than I think she thought she would, so to see her hurt and damaged like this has upset her..
Life goes on though and I suppose itā€™s another lesson learned.

Almost a Newbie but not quite now.
We had a similar problem. On our Autotrail Savannah,, we have an electric ring rear left and gas rear right. I think one of us placed a large pan/kettle on the rear right gas at some time. I have since found the blind trim which is plastic with many holes as decoration had melted badly. I have since sourced replacement trim and it came as a complete window so 4 pieces.
As stated before,, a definite build error to have the gas rings so close to the rear.
We now make it a rule to only use our smallest pan on that hob ring.

If you had a window/door open on the other side/front of the MH that could've caused a draught so the heat from the burner was directed up the side of the pan into the corner, or too large a pan/not sitting centrally over the burner.

I don't like 'standard' MH wall coverings near a cooker, ie the normal type of wall panels, and think there should always be a proper heatproof back and side plate. Our Carthago has a type of acrylic cover on the wall/round the window behind the hob and sink and at the left side a small ceramic tile to prevent it getting singed. We do, however, have a 2 piece hinged aluminium heat shield which we put on the left side of the hob at a right angle so it also goes behind the glass hob lid, it serves to protect the area from burns, splashes etc but also keeps the wind off the stove as the door is right next to it.

You should have somewhere in your hob instructions the maximum size of pan that you should use on each burner, we also have it on the glass lids too.

You can get cut & shaped stainless online, you could get a plate made to go there and then stick it to the wall, hide the damage and stop any future problems.

I had new, larger and thicker plates made up when the bike rack on my van started pulling through the rear wall! The Fiamma spreader plates on the inside were just too small.

I think this is who I used - they even drilled them for me at no extra charge. You can just get guillotined metal from a wide variety of sources, laser cut gives a better edge finish and radiused corners if you want them though.

https://www.lasermaster.co.uk/easy-order

If you wanted to go really fancy you could give them a drawing and get a piece shaped to go around the window. Done well it would look like a factory fit.
