Complements of some low-life scroat - I'm now trying to source a side window for Heidi :frowny:
I'm totally wassed off - the insurance company has been as much use as a chocolate fireguard / the Police don't want to know / none of the neighbours saw or heard anything.
And the most infuriating things - the security cameras didn't catch anything and the alarm didn't go off. Throw my hands up in despair :swear:

Gutted for you, there are some real scum about. Hope you get it sorted soon.

Feel for you.

awful! where did it happen?
Would you believe parked up on our drive - but that side of the van is next to a cut-through ginnel.
They put the window through but didn't try to thieve anything - just mindless vandalism. A neighbour had her windscreen done at the same time, but windscreens are far easier to replace!

sorry to se your van damaged I know how you fell my firs van got every pace of glass smashed in it
only consolation was the insurance were fantastic
as the cum had stolen my stereo so it was classed as a brake-in
bill

There is always some dick head willing to do this damage. Why? What enjoyment do they get from this?

I am pretty sure that Autoglaze.co.uk should be able to help you. They sourced a new windscreen for my 564 within 24 hours and when they came to fit it they had a Hymer side window in the van to fit the same day.

So sad to read this, hope you can get it fixed quickly and easily, then get away for a little time away maybe?

Hopefully the repair can be sorted out quickly as we are booked on the Thetford Bash in 10 days time.

Contact your local plant company, as they get a lot of JCB's and the like having windows smashed !! they usually know whom to contact.
My mate had it happen to his Hymer as quoted £300+ to get a replacement, local guy cut it to size and fitted it for £155 !! toughened glass too !!

Sorry to hear this. However, help is at hand. Just leave one of these in the ginnel after dark. (y)

These guys should be able to help Link Removed
Very friendly lady on phone said they would check their stock and email me back.
My insurance company specifies National Windscreens, and to give Gary at their Bury branch his due he contacted both TravelWorld and Lowdhams. TravelWorld couldn't recognise my van even with the registration number, the chassis number and the Hymer serial number. Lowdhams used the Hymer serial number and emailed Hymer Germany but were told that this glass is no longer available.
I've also emailed Brownhills but they had the same answer - no longer available.

I'm still waiting for an answer to my email but they are based in Dorset and I'm in Lancashire.
Just hope the friendly lady at the friendly hippo has good news for me :tmi:

I would go for the plant replacement window, where I used to work the window guy was there regularly making and fitting to suit the various diggers and heavy plant . I bet the git who did this has issues with life the world and everything.

They work nationwide and specialise in motorhomes and coaches. My insurers specified AA Windscreen Repacement but they sub-let the work to Autoglaze. I found them to be very eficient.

:clap::clap::clap: I've had back word from the friendly hippo and they have the 2 pieces of glass to completely re-glaze the drivers side window :clap::clap:
Gary at National Windscreens is organising the glass being collected from Preston and brought to Bury, and their mobile fitter will be coming out to me on Friday afternoon.
Friday is going to be very busy as I have the mobile engineer coming out to repair and service my fridge in the morning, and the glass fitter coming in the afternoon!
Hope it's sunny then I can sit out in the sun and supervise :giggler:

And a lot more issues if we got our hands on him/ her.

Great news for you. I have been reading posts with interest as we had a similar experience with our campervan. in 2012 Some idiot firebombed our van after spending a year converting it for our retirement It was literally just twisted metal that was left. Anyway insurance payed out and we bought wee humpty so the adventure could continue. It is now in the past so just get on the road and enjoy yourselves again..............Bruce

Fingers crossed we will be at the Thetford Bash on 21st May if everything comes together!
We've had a busy few weeks since Peterborough - tracking down a mobile engineer who could come out to our poorly fridge before mid-July took some doing. We have had new carpets laid throughout Heidi; all her seats have been re-upholstered and the curtains are down having new ones made up.
So having the window smashed popped my happy bubble  Thanks to Jim (our fearless leader) :thanks3: I seem to have got the believably rare replacement glass - no longer in existence according to Hymer Germany.
Only one thing is worrying me now - 1/broken fridge, 2/ broken window, 3/??/( waiting for the shoe to drop).
Think I might go out in the morning just to break something small and insignificant.

You will get it sorted, Heidi is part of the family I know how you must feel what can I call people who do this its all been said but ime sure you fix her cus she's worth it even more so now !!!
Take care
