Remove shower hose and place on the floor, turn on tap, hot then cold repeat. Close tap repeat with all other taps, oh and make sure frost valve and drain valves are closed.

Don’t forget make sure the boiler dump valve is closed or it will empty you tank very quickly

Boiler dump valve is automatic and opens to save boiler from frost damage!(y)(y)
You’ll have a puddle of water under van if it’s open.

Usually next to the boiler. If it's a Truma device then theres a blue turn switch on top AND a button hidden an the back (although depends upon how it was installed).

Typically below 4º they open and them empty the boiler for freezing protection.

if you still have 98% water it probably isn't the dump valve, if you don't though it probably is the boiler dump valve

if you have 98% water still and none of above have worked as a last resort I have blown through a tap to clear an air lock, as the airlock is almost certainly in or near the pump it doesn't matter which tap you use, chose one that fits in your mouth best (y) open tap seal lips round outlet and blow, you might just get lucky

A simple mistake to make.

It's the new Bailey system - Dry Water.

This saves you 100kg in payload.

Turn on your tap, let the dry water flow into the sink and add water, available at any supermarket, to re-constitute it, and there you are.

If, as I suspect, your dump valve is open you will need to switch your pump off or it will run continuously. If it is the dump valve, you should find that you will have lost that 98% and your tank is now empty.

If the tank is still full, however, I’d start looking at the pump and filter. The filter could be blocked or the pump has failed.

Let us know if any water is still in the tank and if anything comes out of any taps when the pump is running.

Do you get any water through any tap?
Not all systems are the same, but most have a filter just before the pump, to spare it from 'stray bits'. It might be in the pump.
If you remove the pump, you'll need to drain the tank again or you'll fill your floor with water. Just be grateful that it's warmer just now.

I have had exactly this problem twice on our Autosleeper. The thing in common here is that I believe both vans have the Whale filler system which, frankly is a pain in the proverbial. The system shuts off the filler pipe when full so no more water can go in (it is designed to be used permanently plugged in). In my case after 2 days (!!!) the problem went away. My theory is that this filler shuts making it difficult for air to enter the tank to replace the water through the taps. I guess there should be a breather somewhere but if that is kinked or blocked?
I have had a "normal" filler fitted to mine, and no problems since.
I suggest you try draining the cold tank and refilling to no more than half full and then try it.

Did you drain down the system before the recent cold snap? The fact you say you haven't touched the dump valve suggests you relied on it to drain, but unfortunately that only drains the boiler. I suspect that some other part of the system has incurred frost damage, possibly the pump as it appears to be pushing air through.

Is the hose from the tank to the pump okay? An air leak here would give the symptoms you describe. Some have a non-return valve, check that is not damaged.

Hi Tim, I just popped back before I go out. The lack of response suggests that it’s either sorted and you’ve gone to celebrate or you could be stuck holding your thumb over a pulsating pipe with water that you’re unable to stop running down your elbow!

Start a process of elimination, following the water from the tank.

Whilst the pump is running, does the level of water around your ankles rise (I meant to say is there any sign of water going anywhere)? Check outside for puddles or a flow of water from a dump valve. Some vans have two valves: a manual one and an automatic one. One may still be open or not properly seated (if the tank level is going down, water must be going somewhere)!

If the pump runs continuously and there are no leaks you are not getting up to pressure, so check to see if there is water on the inlet side of the pump by carefully releasing the pipe. If water flows freely it must be the pump.
The pump may need replacing or new seals, or be blocked. In that case, I’d empty the tank and remove the pump to check it out.

If water only gets to the pump ‘reluctantly’, there must be a blockage ‘upstream’. Try again with the filler cap off – it could be that air is not getting into the tank to allow water out. If the flow to the pump is still poor without the filler cap on, there must be a blockage between the tank and the pump (a blocked filter somewhere, or possibly a kinked/crushed pipe).

Good luck!

A long time now
My filter was blocked with plastic swarf which had come from the tank when they had fitted the pipework and not cleaned it out.

From what you've described, that does rather seem so, Tim.

Been to Chelston mh this lunchtime.
Saw Ian who I spoke to and he located the filter. He did agree it was tricky to locate and spot(tucked away the other side of pump) Cracked plastic cap more than likely frost damage and unlucky.
Temp work around done awaiting part for replacement.
Thanks mh funsters for replying

That's exactly the problem we had. Glad you got it sorted. Apparently really common and like us, you'll know what to look for next time.
