We're needing to renew our passports before before they expire in March, what are funsters experiences regarding this currently?

Last year 3 days for 1 4yrs out of date 3 weeks for 1 40 years out of date . Not like dvla.
But post covid?

We renewed ours recently and fantastic service - website warned of longer than normal delays but we weren't bothered. You can take your own photo which gets vetted online and fill in all the details and send off your old passports. We got our new ones back within 2 weeks and the old passports came back about a week later. Full marks for an excellent service!

Renewed Mrs Maison’s licence in May.

Ten days from on-line application to receipt of new Passport.

Mine took precisely 3 days online once I managed to get an acceptable photo - they would absolutely NOT allow me to have any hair on my face at all, hence the photographer in the local chemists asked the staff member nearby to sort me out and she passed me two hairgrips. They both said that the advice not to have hair covering your eyes was a blatant lie at the moment cos they'd chuck anyone with a fringe straight out.

I absolutely do not intend crossing any borders in the next 10 years with two hairgrips clamping my hair back and quite probably won't have the same earrings in. I have exactly the same mole on my left cheek that I had in 1969 when I had my first Visitor's Visa but we're not allowed to mention such distinguishing features any more, aarrgghh. 5 years ago Pete had his photo refused cos his eyes were too far apart. I told him to ask if the Passport Office were offering to fund the necessary plastic surgery to correct it. Same chemist just gave a deep sigh and said they'd obviously got someone new checking them and took new photos free.

If you don't have anywhere well lit from every possible angle but not so bright it casts a shadow, either do it in a booth or go to a shop offering the facility.

Our son in law renewed his online about 3 weeks ago. Took about 3 days to arrive.

Less than 2 weeks. Would have been quicker had I not forgotten to send the old one back  Onlin e is great, keeps you updated. Let’s you know if your picture is suitable or not. Not keen on the black cover....was expecting a blue one

My passport renewal was processed and posted to me in 2 weeks back in July. My driving licence renewal in 3 days in August.

We renewed both ours in late March. About 5 days turn round.

The previous November, we had photos taken at a booth in Morrisons for our IDP's.
The booth told you if the images taken were "of passport standard" and included a code that could be quoted in online passport applications. 4 hard copy images plus code cost £6 each.
System worked very well.

Are they issuing blue ones yet? Or just the crappy EU type jobs still?

Mine was back in about two weeks when I renewed in June, just enough time to let the smarting from the dry shafting of £80 the bandits charge you fade away! I have to say I was surprised at the speedy turnaround.

Yes blue now but similar in look and feel to the maroon ones!
