Hi all
e -mailed a local recycling and scrap metal yard in Aylesbury to see if they could weigh my motorhome. I wanted front and rear axles and gross weight.
Reply was £20 per weigh, total would be £60 including vat !!!!!!!!!
Gave that one a miss.

I think we paid £8.50 last year..... will take it again tomorrow just to be sure :)

We took ours to the local council depot when we got it - can't remember exactly but less than a tenner(y)

Just used a weigh bridge in Bleanu Festigog (the slate mine), not for checking our weight but for resetting our self leveling jacks. We have tried car parks all over the place trying to find a level spot with no luck, they look level however the spirit level says otherwise. The weigh bridge was perfectly level and there was no charge! Last year we did weigh our van when in the Cotswold - it was £10.

I phoned my local council and they emailed me a list of public weighbridges :) and the opening times and contact details. Very useful.

The nearest is a transport yard and they are helpful and friendly. I think the lady in the office gets a bit bored after the trucks have left until they come back.

We pay £5.40 per weigh - according to them to get the axle weights and the gross weight I needed 3 weighs they could not work out the if you weigh the gross and then the rear and subtract one from the other you had all the weights you need. Took them 5 minutes and a demonstration at their expense to prove it !!

Have been using croydon council local weighbridge at the dump for over 25 years..never been charged once. But pay £3k + council tax. so I should blooming well think so!

I googled "public weighbridge [area concealed]" and the first result was the .gov website, which gave me a local scrap merchant with a weighbridge up to 50t, cost £3.50 with ticket! Nice.

I know this has been posted before, but for those who may not have seen it, this is a useful weighbridge directory.

I go to the local scrap metal dealer. £5 and he weighs 'all four' then 'the back two'. I get an official print out as well for the first total weighing, then he turns the card over and prints the second rear axle weight.

Every local authority is empowered by law to provide a weighbridge. These are usually free if you pay council tax in the area you use. :)
