Oh dear, Querida just came in from off the patio looking very anxious and whffing quietly to herself.
I tuned in and said "don't worry, that's only the rain beginning and falling on the roof".
I realised in the four and a half months of her life she has not experienced rain!
She wasn't convinced and pushed her head and front legs under my chair (the rest of her will no longer fit).
The rain grew a bit heavier, then a few minutes later I thought I could hear thunder in the distance.
Oh Dear, poor departed little Nell was frightened of thunder,Lass is gun shy and afraid of distant explosions, I think from quarry workings. I had hoped my great big (to be) Querida would be impervious to all such things.

many many years! since I was a kid
go and sit outside with your girl, give her a hug and some treats and totally ignore the fact you are getting wet or any thunder. works wonders for anxious dogs to witness their pack leader calmly accepting the trigger
