I could with a bit of advice ! I am contemplating a trip to the west coast of France (Montalivet in Aquitaine) I am based (fulltimer) in Shrewsbury and normally travel via Dover. Would there be any saving cash wise if I used the Portsmouth to Cherbourg or St.Malo route. Having looked at the routes on my sat nav, the Cherbourg route is 200 miles shorter.

Over to those who are more knowledgeable than I....Stephen. :thumb:

On the down side, I would miss the Bring and Buy sale....

only you can do the sums Steve 400 miles return saved at how many MPG, is it cheaper than the extra ferry cost? Always has been when I have worked it out, but not done so since fuel prices went stupid.

According to the sat nav it's only 200 miles more via Dover ! Best price ferry is LD lines Portsmouth to Le Havre at £202
    So, it's borderline !
I think I'll go with LD !!! :thumb:

Why don`t you go out by St Malo and back from Calais see how that works
you will gain a fair bit in time and diesel to St Malo but the cost will be more just an idea . BTW we did that two years ago, Cheers Rob:thumb::thumb:
