Dethleffs Trend
Hi all,
I'm Steve and my wife is Julie. We are now retired and travelling in our Dethleffs Trend. Started off on the usualy anti-clockwise tour around the coast of France Spain etc, when everyone panicked and decided that we should go home and watch day-time TV for a fortnight. However, we are staying on in france as it seems to us a safer bet than cramming on a big boat with thousands of others. So we are stopping at municipal aires, a few paid camp sites and just done a week in Bergerac. Lovely town!
Having made the decision, we have plan to follow the sun but basically self isolate in our van. To be honest, the only time we see people (great shame, but...) is when we go to Lidls. Taking care with the hand wash etc we hope we will be OK, but france us massive and people are scarce so all should be good.
Will update as we go or follow us on youtube and Facebook.

Unless you have to get back probably a good decision, though keep an eye on the FCO travel advice in case it changes to 'return to UK'.

Welcome 👍 IMO you are probably just as, if not more, safe in France than the UK as long as you keep out of the major towns and some of the tighter open markets.
Safe and happy travels!

Well, things are really quiet (UK visitors wise) in France now. We travelled from Bergerac to St Nectaire in the Volcano National Park, and we did not see another vehicle with UK plates. We only saw one other foreign plate and that was NL. Its not stopping the French though. The roads were packed with over-loaded cars, vans and, I'd estimate 10% of them motorhomes, coming or going to vacances. We are now at Flowers Camping (la Vallée Verte) and there is only one pitch left. Covid? What covid? No social distancing at all. Showers etc steam cleaned each night but bars and restaurants packed so best avoided. Not surprising covid is on the way back in France as no one appears to care. Masks obligatory in shops but not bars or restaurants. Children mix and then go back to own families etc. We have decided to keep ourselves to ourselves and just enjoy the scenery rather than the company, which is a shame because the reason we travel is to meet new friends...
