There I am slowly dragging my over worked body and mind into "Function Mode" surrounded by the beauty that is Quinta Majay...

"Good morning" I hear and there outside the van is Funster Tony (Ant and Debs) all kitted out in strimming gear... before you know it we are both toiling away attacking the over grown plants from two directions... :thumb:

It gets hotter and hotter and hotter...

"Enough" I cry out in pain, switch off the strimmer and down a pint of water.

Tony carries on...

As I was struggling to gain enough energy to put the kettle on an idea came to mind...

"Does that site you are on have a swimming pool Tony?"

"Yes."

And from that moment on all I could think of was a cooling dip...

So here I am, 60 kms from QMJ but only 36 kms from the Studio in probably the nicest campsite I have ever seen in my life...

Owned and run by a Dutch family...

I have had a swim and am already thinking about asking about having a meet here sometime...

Photos and more about this site full of character in due course...

It is the one's that charge for an awning... or sun canopy and a car if it is attached to the motor home that bug me. then it is extra for a dog... give me an ACSI site, at least you know you are going to get 6 amp min on electric and first dog is free.

But that seems the way now.

Miserable lot... money, money, money...:ROFLMAO:

Always the cost... what about the value?

There are three chickens wandering around the site along with the fan tailed white doves that live in the site dove cote... There is a small "Farm" with guinea pigs and a donkey... there is an unmanned "farmers' market" selling the fresh eggs, potatoes, onions, strawberries etc etc... there is a price list and a set of scales and a bowl to put the money in.

Each pitch is surrounded by greenery... no parking in lines here

The restaurant does special posh meals... you have no choice... you book your place and then help yourself to the dishes of the day, prepared and cooked on the premises by the Dutch Chef/Owner...

Pitch, six amp electricity and wi-fi... €12

More pics tomorrow ... only took these two today as the sun was setting...

The way I read it a Car + Caravan = €8

For us the cost would be 3 adults (Chaz is over 10) x €5 = €15
Car + Caravan = €8
6 amp leccy = €3
2 x dogs = €2

Cost per night in high season €28 .. (not including the pup tent we usually put up .. another €4.50 = €32.50)

Site tariff
5,00€ Adults
2,50€ Child 0-10
3,00€ Car
2,50€ Motorbike
8,00€ Motorhome
5,00€ Caravan
4,50€ Small Tent
5,00€ Big Tent
2,50€ Extra Tent
1,00€ Dog
3,00€ Electricity 6amp.
4,20€ Electricity 16amp.

I am not sure they have the room for your huge rig Brian and Chris!

I will wander around tomorrow and take more piccies...

The sort of meet here that I am thinking about would be linked with the Rolling Off-Site Funster Meet In Portugal... we wander around meeting up at various off-site locations that I know of and people who need to "re-group" and "fill up and empty" and do washing etc could come here (and other sites yet to be discovered) and having got sorted could "hit the road" again...

Perhaps when the Gang are making their way back from their long term winter spots like Zahora...

Have I missed something JIM? was not JJ the man that would not stay on a site, wild camp only... now he is washing his nets and is singing about the benefits of a site...

Oh well a leopard can perhaps change his spots.. but like you I find the price issue not to my liking.. pay for this and pay for that.

I just came back from a 3 week stay on the site in Neufchatel - en - bray one price all year.. €12 with 6 amps or €14 if 10 amps ... they have the ACSI discounts but it is so little off the normal rack rate it does not make a big difference. I had my awing out, my slide out out... my trailer attached all times and I had a car parked behind the trailer... massive pitch.. water at the pitch, power at the pitch the a wifi mast as well. I look for value and a nice site.:thumb:

We had the ducks, the birds etc.,

But I still cannot get over JJ going on a site.

No one is more surprised than me Bob!

It must be the sunstroke...

Apparently it was over 30 C here yesterday... The pool was delicious...

But actually... There are a couple of very good reasons why I have ignored my own rules and stayed on this site... But my legal people advise me to keep these reasons to myself...

I think statements like this should be preceded by a health warning. Do you have any idea what a statement like that can do to some motorhomers. Pay for a site..........

It would have been €7.50 without electric and use of the pool... :thumb:

(I didn't NEED the electric but I did need the pool)

I would not use a site normally... but given that I chose to yesterday (and today) and given the price I read of some people paying (and what we paid for the Marjal site) this one seems very reasonable to me...

I thought it was JJ religion - not pay

I thought Buttons that it was JJ religion not to pay for a site with all that wide open country he lives in (tax exile)... now he is hiding behind legal privilege ... he has now wondering about the rabbit and the hat... is that tue I ask myself:Sad:

Have to think of JJ now differently I suppose :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: I blame it on Frankie myself.. got him all domesticated.... the nets was the first hint... now he want to lay in the pool...

Oh well... it could be the outcome of eating so many FBP that has changed him to a normal person (read near normal:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:)

Well I reckon it's a charming site. I also reckon it looks like good value.

An earlier comment that these sites will charge to Sh*t next made me think that all the sites I've used charged for that.

I can definitely see the attraction JJ, secluded, well shaded, good pitch size, when can we come out please............Griff :thumb:

Good question Roger...

Answer... it needs emptying and then it's annual clean... about a day and a half's work... and guess who does that?

Plan to start the job in due course... :winky:
