It is normal for diesels oil to turn black quite rapidly. With petrols, this would take longer and people considered oil colour proof of recent servicing.

With diesels - it is a different matter! Change regularly as you wish, but don't go by oil colour!

Even if you change it now as soon as you start a diesel engine the oil will be black in a matter of minutes unless you have an oil spinner fitted, few diesel engines have a spinner fitted other than Cummins.

Do you think there is any great advantage to retro-fitting a spinner to a MH?

only three things should red Roger.......your knuckles when working on it, gearbox/axle oil and brake fluid.

gearbox oil and brake fluid are not conducive as engine lubricants and knuckle gravy isnt good for anything except keeping you upright and breathing. :ROFLMAO:

2 minutes running will see new oil look like old oil unless you use an engine flush at oil service time.

don't know why but there's always more old oil left in a diesel when drained than a petrol engine which, of course, then mixes with the new oil making it look dirty.

    I am no expert

But generally when you change the oil on a diesel engine it will be black as $hit within a hour.
