I use Google gadgets on a sidebar. It has a vast variety of gadgets which can be displayed on your PC's desktop, including weather, a proper clock and user designated headlines.

    Hi

I use a couple on the Windoze side bar, but keep them to a minimum as they use up resources, it is also poorly thought out and uses up desk space, unlike the Mac OS X dashboard which only pops up as required.
Perhaps it has been improved on W7 ?

The beauty of the Firefox weather gadget is that it's embedded in the browser and only works when requested.
