I'm off to Santander tomorrow and am traveling to Almeria region. Anybody got any advice as to where to stop in a nice campsite a couple of hours from Santander. Somewhere with a pool and bar would be nice. Thanks.

Camping Oyambre, about hour west of Santander. Has pool, bar, restaurant ( and speak good English). Close to Comillas - with a Gaudi house. Nice beaches but sea can still feel cold. Mind you I think the sea anywhere can feel cold

You could try this site - https://www.campingargos.com/ it's in Noja which is a really nice resort less than an hour's drive from Santander. The site has a pool and there are bars and cafes on the main street outside the campsite. Also close to two great beaches within easy walking distance.

There is a site in Navarette. No pool but it does have a bar.

There is this one which has a pool but we haven’t stayed there.

Edit - we have stayed there but I forgot it had a pool.

Camping Haro has a pool and a bar, short walk up into town square plenty of Tapas bars. We often use it when docking in Bilbao, from Santander it is at least 200kms route depending.
I get mixed up,,it's an hour from Bilbao,,about 2 hours from Santander..

Why post such an unhelpful reply?
Its not unhelpful really as if they didn't know about camper contact its a great resource.
But sure its nice to get a first hand recommendation from a fellow funster. Just wish I could recomend somwhere as we never get a campsite with a pool.

Camping Zaragoza is excellent, it has polls, bars, restaurant etc. http://www.campingzaragoza.com/

Should yo decide on Haro as you leave the toll road after 1km the large red supermarket on your left ( name escapes me) sells the cheapest diesel in the area, after another 500m at the roundabout is a large Lidl again on your left with plenty of moho parking.

Camping Haro ...About an hour from Santander.Nice wine town..BUSBY.
I passed that in the car the other day. We sometimes stay over in Haro camping. But we have found a nice free Aire and a very quiet free spot now.

The clue is, its near this !

Heard on another forum that the site has gone downhill recently (not literally). Being used by longstay migrants in the park area apparently so maybe no good for even a one night stop over. Maybe temporary but who knows.

Why post such an unhelpful reply?
I prefer to give positive replies but I really believe that people should do a little research themselves before posting open ended questions. Campercontact is very well known and very cheap, it has all the filters needed to identify sites (as does ACSI but that's more expensive).
I've just become a little intolerant to people who post open questions expecting others to spoon feed them the answers, not just on campsites but many other topics.
Surely people can use Google, Search4Sites and the other excellent search apps before they post a question can't they?
Sorry it's an age issue :giggle:
