For years I have recorded TV programs, transferred them to a USB drive and watched them in MH. Legally I believe. But the boxes I used were getting old and I bought a new one.

MISTAKE.

It seems, the new boxes now do not let the recorded content out of the box. So I have a nice all singing and dancing box, records a treat but cannot get the content to the MH. I could take the box but that's not the way I want to go.

I've seen HDMI cable recorders, billed for video games, I guess these may block normal TV content.

Has anyone solved this problem ?

Since 1964 Gosh that makes me feel old.
Do you mean Sky recording boxes like Sky+. I've got a mate that's very good with answers to these kind of questions (doesn't everyone lol?) & can ask him on your behalf.
