hopefully someone can help with a odd light that has appeared on the dash and does not seem to want to switch off, even when the engine is not running?,!

its red and quite dull in comparison to the various other lights that first appear when we start the engine. Any ideas .... anyone.? Nothing online and handbook does not show a thing

Thanks

Ha .... no sadly not, it’s the other one ?

Is it on a Fiat?

Do u have the dreaded dash problems that beset Fiats?

It could be about the fan or it could be about the coolant level.

Could be radiator fan failure.

It does not necessarily mean a loss of coolant.

Does the engine temperature rise when in stationary in traffic due to a lack of forced air through the radiator.

If the radiator fan has a three wire wiring harness then the third wire can be used to detect fan speed and if the fan has failed or is failing then the ECU could detect it.

Does it go off when you switch off cruise control? If so it's the dreaded instrument cluster problem. New or Reconditioned panel required.

I’ve had this issue once with my instrument panel and it was replaced under warranty. Unfortunately 3 years on and I have a similar issue - when cruise control is switched on I get 3 of my warning lights showing up faintly but they go off as soon as the cc is switched off!! Peugeot base pvc.

I have a similar light on my Toyotas. They're to do with the passenger airbag being switched on or off for when you have a child seat in the front of the car. Is it possibly a similar thing?
Regards

There's a company that repairs them for about £150. Can't remember the name but somebody will know.

Cartronix are very good.I sent my instrument cluster for repair to them two years ago.
I sent it on the Monday and got it back on the Thursday(same week).
The faint warning lights are diodes failing.Cartronix replaces them with better quality ones.
It’s an easy process to send it away.If you ring them they will explain how the online
system works.They are very helpful.
I think if your water level had dropped below the level of the sensor, the warning light would be brighter.
Peter.

Based in Somerset Light does not go off when the engine is off but stays on dully lit. Thanks Stanbrook for tracking the image down. Checked the coolant and all ok so thinking a instrument fault?! It’s a 2011 autotrail tracker and out of warrantee, think the replacement panel with the Cartronix team will be the next move.

first time on a forum, thank you all the reply’s. loved the fact that so many folks have helped steer me in the right direction.

Coolant level.

Check the level sensor I think it's in the header tank, not entirely sure what type on that year but might be bummed up.

I had a dim light indicating there was a problem with the self levelling, which I don't have. Sent it off to Cartonix on Monday it was back by Wednesday and they guarantee the repair for as long as you have the vehicle I believe, so I can also recommend Cartronix.

I have the same problem on my Fiat Ducato Autotrail Tracker (2011). Various lights on the dash very dimly lit, including handbrake and airbag lights. Been like this for a few years. My MH service garage say it's a common problem. It has caused me no problems to date.

They usually go out if you switch off cruise control.

I have heard unplugging back of display and replugging - poor earth and diodes.
