Getting Better
Anyone using or used o2 network in Europe...? does it have good coverage and speed.... do you know the data cap?

I’ve spoken to customer service and they are useless....

I do. Coverage is good and I've had no problems with coverage or data, but I do tend to use a MiFi hub on 3 most of the time for data.

Went to Germany, Belgium, France and Greece for holidays last year and if anything my O2 coverage was better than at home!

Not sure on Data though as used the hotels WiFI.

The 90 day rule applied before Spain joined the EU - the only ones that observed it were the super rich who didn't want to pay tax in Spain...... I overstayed because I was not (y)

Ok.... coverage looks good, I’m thinking of getting a 50gb tariff that I will hotspot to with my iPad.... is it capped to say 25gb a month like most others..?

I’ve read on there terms and conditions that is limited to 63 days continuous use but can’t find a cap...?

Well as I’ve got a bit of time to spare I went into the Truro O2 shop earlier and had a chat with them in there, I ended up with 60gb unlimited calls and texts for £22.50 which will do me as it’s a compromise on what I’ll use abroad.....
I could well use 60gb while away, but hardly any while in the U.K. and I don’t want to go 100gb or unlimited data as it’s a fair few quid more....

now they showed me (I made them as a term of contract) that I can use the whole 60gb a month in Europe with out strangling or capping...
Now in the T&C’s it does say that after 63 days you may be cut off or capped but the management did say that she hasn’t heard it happen to anyone yet.... (could be like Vodafone t&c’s but didn’t adhere to it)

but more importantly they said that you can call them and they can swap over your sim or something but I didn’t listen properly..? or send your sim back to someone in the U.K. and they make a call on it in the U.K. and it resets the time limit then send it back to you.... I know that would be a pain but at least it’s an option as last resort....

anyway 60gb should do me so I’m fairly happy.. oh, and it’s a 12mth contract as I thought it may all change after December 2020...
All changed over within an hour same number and hotspotting to it now...?

thanks all for your input ... appreciated...??

You don’t have to stick to your network providers eu partner.
Turn of automatic network selection and pick the best fasted network.
That’s what roaming means.
It was proposed that roaming should be allowed on our home networks to fill the no network problem, but it was poo pooed by the networks as it would stop the providers improving the network.

Just seen your post. We are full timers. I have 100gig O2 and use this whilst roaming without any monthly cap under the fair use policy. We are normally away for 6 months at a time before returning to UK. At no time has my usage been restricted.

And O2 is Telefonica in Spain so expect a good signal there..?

Sky. Uses O2. 10gb unlimited text and mins unused data rolls over for 3 years £10pm.
Or Smartie 30gb unlimited mins and text £10 pm uses EE
