So i need to replace the front number plate on our MH due to it having an argument with a large boulder ^^
anyways the old number plate had the "GB" icon incorporated into the side of the number plate , you know the thing that says to others "hey im from the UK" when in a European country like France.
My question is do i still need to have this on my plate or a sticker displayed on the MH when we travel to the likes of France or Spain etc.
will a plain number plate be legal with out the need for a "GB" sticker.

Plain number plates on front and rear are fine, thats my understanding.
If you go over the water you need at minimum a UK oval identification sticker.

I'm going to stick a UK sticker just to the left of my current GB sticker. Also I may write 'of' between them in marker pen 😎

The link above says this..
However, anyone with a number plate that includes the UK identifier with the Union flag, also known as the Union Jack, does not need a UK sticker.

So it seems that sticking these on your number plates means no UK sticker?

Correct (y)
You can have plain plates and use an oval sticker OR no oval sticker if you have the identifier on the number plate..

actually an update i just read the full article as apposed to just glancing over it and at the bottom it says :

The guidelines add: "If you're in Spain, Cyprus or Malta, you must display a UK sticker no matter what is on your number plate.

as we are likely to go to Spain at some point in the MH i will indeed need a UK sticker anyways , so plain number plate it is then..

You will still need the black on white UK oval for Spain and Malta

I have UK on front and rear no plates, also UK and GB stickers on the back. Pretty well covered for everywhere unless some jobsworth objects to the GB sticker. I have seen a van with every country sticker theyve visited.

For 40 years I have driven though France to Spain, never even thought or worried about GB stickers

My Eriba has been to France and across Spain for 7 years, including last month

It has no GB no UK sticker, nor even GB on the reg plates..........................

The GB sticker is "invalid but not illegal". So you don't have to remove it if you prefer not to. However I would think that incorrect valid stickers, like F or D on a UK vehicle, would not be allowed.

Bought my Eriba 7 years ago and have been to France and Spain most years in it, including a trip to Mallorca a month ago.

It's never had a GB sticker, nor GB number plates and no UK sticker................
