We are currently staying on the camping Eden site at Peñíscola which if anyone has been here knows is quite tight, so yesterday a 9metre Concorde liner tries to round the corner at the end of the site. The result was an hour half later still stuck with about 20 helpful fellow campers trying to give him instructions

He eventually got clear after some branches were cut down but had a nasty gash on the side of the van where he scraped against the bike rack of another van

Oops, thats the trouble with a lot of these older campsites that were originally set up for car and caravan, and motorhomes keep getting bigger.

Why was he allowed on the site in the first place ?
Shouldn't the warden have told him to go park somewhere more suitable

It wasn't @Steely Daniel 's bike rack he scraped against, was it? Could be answering two birds with one stone here! :) https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/forum/threads/fiamma-bike-rack-failure.162766/

I know there's a problem with times and locations but this is the sort of situation (minus the 20 helpful campers looking on :) )

He was out the night before measuring the pitch, evidently most large motorhome on Eden park on the perimeter pitch's, anyway it supplied abit of excitement for the morning

We were on El Eden this time last year and they were in the process of pollarding the trees. Looks like they are a bit late this year.
Quite funny watching some of the other campers armed with brushes etc trying to keep the branches from falling on their vans and awnings while the Spanish arborists were up their ladders happily chatting and smoking at the same time whilst using their air powered secateurs to lop the branches.

I say it was funny watching but that was from the security of a pitch that already had been done!! Dont know how I would have felt if they were working round ours?

That picture of everyone in pitches like sardines is one of the reasons why I won't use campsites!!!!! My idea of absolute hell!!!!

I've seen aires looking as bad...
True but if you're only staying for a night stop it's not such an issue, but to stay on a campsite for months like that ..... nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Its surprising how quickly others come out an have a look when they think there might be some entertainment . I went into a site in Germany (Stellplatze Schaffer-mobil Dresden Kötzschenbroder Str. 125, 01139 ) you can see layout on GMap ,its fully automated so no wardens , I walked in first and saw a possible pitch right down the bottom that I could access , there were only two others vacant . It required a left turn with a reverse into pitch with a couple of shunts . I then drove in you could see a lot of attention and then the migration to watch what they obviously thought wasn't possible , I wasn't sorry to disappoint them . I had to go for scond one in as the first required too much of a swing on front . Later in the day a Morello liner came in luckily he was a few feet shorter so was able to get in the first pitch . He also had a bit of an audience , I think its the same thing that cause people to slow to look at a motorway crash !
