Hmmmm it’s only 6pm, ..was it my bedtime

We are parked up at the rear of Hushinish beach. We go a walk and notice that there are 5 spaces but all 5 are taken up by only 3 vans. Sheila comments on it loudly enough so that one of the van occupants can hear.

“Are you wanting to park a car or a van the lady asks?” We answer ..a van.

Now let me tell you a story the woman goes on. These 5 spaces I think are for cars and not vans so because we have gas cylinders we need to keep our distance to stay within the law so that’s why we are taking up more space.

Hmmm so you think these spaces are for cars then I ask. “ Yes the lady replies”. So I then ask why she thinks it’s ok for her to park her van and take 2 spaces.

Later on she did come and apologise and I notice this morning they had moved over. .

Double standards or what !

Technically I think West of Harris Trust only want ‘vans’ not Motorhome down there due to space needed for all

They have created a 5 bay parking option for larger motor homes a couple of hundred yards back up the road

Awesome place though, the trust have created several parking places and trust all comers to pay online for using

Actually Husinush I think is North Harris not West but same charging rules

Right here at the marker. up the sandy track. Same place as the last we went there. Lucky I remembered it. The 5 bays further up were full. We are in Stornoway now heading sth to Luskentyre shortly.

Nice spot where you parked but when we were there last year there signs saying no vehicles allowed there at all

We had a lovely chat stood by the boathouse behind where you parked he manages the island over the water there really interesting character but they do get fed up with folk ignoring signs

I guess your story reads 2 ways

Nice spot where you parked but when we were there last year there signs saying no vehicles allowed there at all

We had a lovely chat stood by the boathouse behind where you parked he manages the island over the water there really interesting character but they do get fed up with folk ignoring signs

I guess your story reads 2 ways

We never saw any signs saying no overnighting. Maybe someone ran them over.
