Haven’t been on here for awhile just thought I’d try and book a few nights away but find it very annoying that you have to pay extra to put the awning out why?

I'd charge £10 quid extra a night for an enclosed awning and still feel it was not enough.

I have a pitch that is still showing the marks left by one caravan and a 10 day stay with an awning and groundsheet last year.

I hate all the extra charges, dogs, kids, cars, 4 limbs etc.

However, I can see how awnings are extra. Grass seed is expensive and difficult to sort while you are trying to let out a pitch and even breathable ground sheets kill grass.

You do have a choice to avoid the sites that charge though. We do usually.

Does a wind out awning with no sides or groundsheet constitute a charge? Should it be declared?

No and no.

No it’s fine but as soon as you get the front and side attachments it’s classed as a full awning and will require the appropriate pitch .

Yes. They have awning and non-awning pitches but charge the same for both.
That’s interesting . I have to admit I have never compared the prices. Every day a school day on MHF lol 👍🏻 . Thanks for the info .
Edit
So its more availability rather than a price issue . I do have to commend them for not charging extra . It’s interesting because the non awning pitches at Bunree CAMC afford the best views over the water .

Some sites down South DO charge for a windout awning.... and a child over 3yr old and a dog and a car if you are a motorhome.... I have to choose very carefully where to go from now on as money is tight.

.... Woodside Farm is a good place for me with a windout awning. :)

We were in Croatia and went into a campsite and they asked if i had a motorobike.
I said "Yes in my garage".
They said "3 euros per day".
I reply with "even in the garage ?"
To which they said "Yes".
Those of you who know me or read my comments will understand my next words were "goodbye" and they changed their mind so I stayed. I took the motorbike out of the garage, parked it by the motorhome because I am just a rebel

We need the awning when grandkids are with us they sleep in there, we can manage without it when on our own. Annoys me that a car and caravan 2 vehicles is one price a motor home and motorbike still 2 vehicles and you can be charged extra.

After an awning and ground sheet have been used for a while the grass looks horrible. I don’t blame them for changing extra all things considered.
Agreed, it is an expense not needed.
Is the charge aimed as a deterant or is it spent on reseeding.
If its reseeding thats bloody expensive grass seed once a year.
Grass regrows on its own so of course it's a deterant.

Never mind the extra pitch charge.....from the entertainment I've had watching others I'd be happy (if I had one) to pay extra to have someone to put the ruddy thing up.

Grass seed is priced really high, but when do you seed it? You can't do it when your open. If a pitch is wrecked its a dustbath in the dry and a mudbath in the wet. If its bad, you lose the pitch and it's rent.

I just banned groundsheets altogether, and awnings up for a max of 3 days

Well thanks for all you’re inputs it seems that a wind out awning is not a awning until it is enclosed which I don’t do anyway , but why would you have to pay extra on a hard standing pitch

An extra tenner a night doesn't cover the cost of the 3Kw fan heater on full chat all night that nobody ever uses!

If your vans that small that you have to sit in it, buy a bigger van simples
