Anyone have any 'must visit' places they can recommend? Travelling with a 6.5m m/h & dog. Also any fabulous overnight sites. Thanks.

Cragside, a NT house once the home of William Armstrong. Soooo interesting. Easy parking in a MH. You need a full day. Many coastal towns villages, Alnwick, Bamburgh, Hexham, Seahouses, etc.

Well of course you have Hadrians wall and lots of Forts/etc ...
The coast is fantastic but remember to travel inland as well.
You can of course pop in and out Scotland and Cumbria :)

My old village of Belford, super dog friendly pub The Black Swan, nice coffee shop The Wellhouse and plenty parking at Sunnyhills farm shop. Large campsite South Meadows. Belford summer show 24th September.

What kind of sites are you wanting to use, CAMC /CCC, cl/cs, small private/large commercial, field, britstop or wild camp?

When are you planning on coming?

Late September, prefer EHU if possible, other than that pretty open, we are C&CC members.

Sorry for the late reply, I'm currently touring the lakes - as a CCC member I'd recommend Beadnell Bay site, ehu but no toilet block, lovely area, straight on to the beach, couple of nice pubs in the village, and good location for Craster, Seahouses & Bamburgh

But check its opening times first as its a seasonal site

We frequently go to Beadnell Bay ccc site
500 yards from the beach - loverly site and a brilliant ‘fish n chips’ van at the end of the road
We already have a couple of nights booked for the end of October… so definitely open in Sept
And yes, they do have a toilet block!
(Also a dog walking area for a ‘quickie’)

there was toilet & shower block open there a few weeks ago, Dunstan Hill has also and if you have an OAP bus pass, bus stops outside of site entrance with buses to Craster? for kippers and Alnwick. good walking too.

Kielder forest/water. One of the best star gazing places in the country. Stunning walks, rides, views etc too.
Most of Northumberland's beaches are stunning.

Where to start, being half Tyke half Geordie I got the best of both worlds as a kid visiting relatives in Wallsend was combined with holidays all over Northumberland as well as holidays on the east coast of Yorkshire
Lost of lovely places already mentioned, here's some more in no particular order (sorry if there are repeats with other posts)

Bamburgh for beach and castle
Can walk to Seahouses (about 3 mile) nice fish and chips
Cragside House - hydro powered house and gardens, with a drive around the grounds bit tight at times
Craster - Jolly fisherman pub, also famous for kippers
Walk from there to Dunstanburgh Castle
Holy Island - Barn at Beal restaurant is also a camp site
Horwich Hall and Arboretum - botanical gardens
Alnwick - castle and gardens and a coffee in Barter Books
Lady of the North Country Park, Cramlington - landscape sculpture with walks
Longhoughton Beach - you can park just behind the dunes and then straight onto beach
Amble - Fish Shack for sea food platter but you will probably have to book
Alnmouth - big car park on the front
Beadnell Bay
Vindolanda Roman Fort and museum and Hadrian's Wall
On the way back south stop off in Tynemouth - castle, nice beach and fish and chips from Marshalls

Hope that gives you some ideas (y)

Sorry, you are correct - they closed completely during covid and I got mixed up 😅

All powered by water
It also had hydraulic powered dumb waiters, spits to turn meat in the kitchen and hot water in all the bathrooms which made Edward VII and Queen Alexandra jealous when they came to stay, the fireplace in the drawing room was built purely to impress them

Beadnell bay, great for a good walk

Beamish is a great day out, but we go and park up later at “ The South Causey inn” Stanley. It’s about 1.5m away, cracking pub stop.
