Hi All

We are first timers in a motor home and we are heading up to Edinburgh from Durham and planning to head down the northeast cost.

We are looking at the various holiday parks etc but wanting to experience the coast if we can.

Can anyone help with some good guides of places to stop/stay overnight etc or tips for us first timers

Thanks
Andy

If you are in the Camping and Caravanning club there is currently a rally on at North Berwick, we were there last week, it's right next to the beach.

Proctor Steads near Craster. Great site. Yellowcraig, near North Berwick. You can get the bus, or train, into Edinburgh.
Finchale Abbey near Chester-le-Street.
East Lendings near Barnard Castle. Nice walk along the river into town.
The Barn at Beal is good for Holy Island. Nice food too.
Whatever you do, stay safe and enjoy. šŸ‘

take a peek at moonfruit wild camping - its a website 'ran' by a member on here - we find it really useful for lots of varied places to stay, some free, some paying sites/farms, pubs etc - well worth a look !!

and welcome to the house of fun ....

Another vote for Beadnell Bay. Stayed there last month and straight onto the beach with the dogs who loved it. You can walk to Seahouses from the site.

Does anyone know if you can still stay in the carpark on the land side of Lindisfarne?

I know there is MH parking at Alnwick but not sure if nights are allowed/tolerated

This one, just before the causeway?

If so, then no, it's now blocked off completely and not in use at all šŸ˜ž

I know it's the wrong side of the border, but St Abbs Harbour is pretty much as close to the coast that you can get!

Ā£10 to stay overnight, no pubs, but two cafĆ©s that shut around 4pm, although that may change seasonally and you can walk up to the waves lapping the harbour wall.

But check it out first, very steep climb back out of village, and very tight once in the village/harbour area.

Eyemouth Harbour is also another good stay over, although I'm sure that you can only stay on the south side these day's and you'll get woken up by the trawlers coming in if you time it wrong!

Dominic Cummings tested his eyesight at Barnard Castle: Iā€™m sure he would not have seen the coast šŸ˜‚

At Belford, less than half a mile off the A1.
And a good bus service nearby runs between Berwick, Alnwick and Newcastle, and stops at most of the seaside villages.

official parking information on Northumberland County Council website, look at the other parking link for motorhomes...

<Broken link removed>

other news to watch how overnighting could develop officially ....
