Hi all I’m looking to head up around North Wales in January I have 5 days and I’m starting my trip from South Wales not far from Brecon Beacons last time we stopped one night in Betws-y-Coed at a pub car park called Elens castle and he gave us free Ehu if we ate there and food was great so we plan on a stop off there one night so just wounded if anybody got advice for other places to see on route we also have a small dog traveling with us

We stayed at Criccieth beach last night. On the road past the parking completely unrestricted . Need ramps to make the van level though . Went to the local pub ( Royal Oak?) nice beer and quirky friendly people . Lovely nights sleep listening to the waves . Attached is our view

Check out the cars parks in Powys on the way perhaps.
Lots of car parks in Powys permit an overnight stop (1 night in 7).
From memory, Brecon, Welshpool, CrickhowellEtc.

In the link above it's the 'Mixed use' car parks.
We found the Crickhowell one too cramped for us but the others look fine.

There are a few good big laybys eigher side of Barmouth can't see any trouble, or just before the Dolphin Fish and chip shop there is a car park and you can park there its a small garage, can't remember how much he charged but not a lot. While you are in Barmouth go into Ebenezers in the old church, the Samosas are delicious.
But don't judge Barmouth by winter in the spring /summer it's a very busy / nice place indeed, and of course only a couple of miles from Shell Island which is now closed until March.

Lol did not know that's what it's called just always call it the toll Bridge car park, there are usually Motorhomes parked there when we are on our way to Shell Island.

Yes you can there are some amazing drives up there and depending upon which way you go some of the lanes I used are narrow because I tend to think whats down here, the van comes home covered in mud but
pick up te signs for the visitors cente follow the road all the way through loads of parking places, might be woth giving them a call or checking website to make sure they are open pick up A44 at the top then you can turn left for the coast road or right for the B4518 or if you prefer back to the A470
I spent 2 weeks up there wild but the area by Elan valley is fishing club and no over night but I had no problem finding places to stop
Rhayader stayed on the car park no problems visit the Red Kite centre either at 2 or 3 it is amazing worth the £7 to get in bit tight but you will et you van in no problem (watch the overhangs on some of the buldings)
Machynlleth stayed centre of town but the coop car park was where I had breakfast fresh danish and coffee and next door to there is a club and they do overnight for a silly price (may even have been £1) but don't hold me to that

Have fun I just took the map book and l headed out
