Hi all

We're booked for the tunnel care of Tesco on the 16th September with no real plans except that we would like to explore the North West coast and then follow it south as far as about La Rochelle. Probably use a combination of ACSI sites and Aires. Going for about a month or six weeks I guess.

Any ACSI site and Aire recommendations very welcome, along with any other tips etc.

Whats the weather like generally like in this region during Sept/Oct and is it generally quiet or busy?

Cheers, Dave and Ginny

Port du Sable campsite at Arzon - right next to the sea. Camping St Michel at Courtils, very good value - we stayed there early Oct. Great aire at Josselin, plus superb castle & river. We didn't like the camping municipal in Quimper - many itinerant workers with dogs living there. All these from 2008...!

Treat yourselves to All the Aires book and borrow this years ASCI book before you go unless of course you already have them. We are on the train a few days before you as we always do in September and never have a problem with finding suitable aires or ASCI sites still open. As for the weather well we usually get it good in September but I think you may have to ask the man upstairs what he has planned this year.

Do not worry about planning the whole trip, if we ever plan more than three days in advance then invariably we change it.

If you want our route away from Calais for the first few days then please ask again but I can assure you with them two books half the fun is planning the next stop

Tregastel-Plage (Pink Granite Coast), Concarneau, Quiberon (Port Blanc), Carnac, Le Croisic, Ile de Re, La Rochelle P&R, Ile d'Oleron, and La Palmyre are all places with aires that I'd visit again and would happily recommend to others. Le Croisic has 5 small aires dotted about, and the two Iles have multiple aires of varying sizes. Ile Madame also looks interesting - small island, access via a tidal causeway with loads of coastal parking spots that no-one would fuss about if you stopped for a night.

We travel on the 18th directly after the Malvern Show. If you leave a trail of breadcrumbs.....
I agree with Magicsurfbus, we visited a lot of those places last year and they're all worth a visit.
We plan to see more of Normandy this time and perhaps loop back along the Loire spending less time in Brittany. But as ever we have few plans other than a visit to Penestin to see friends. It sounds as if there will be others about to wave at.

What and where is PV?
