Hi there, just joined. We heading Normandy in July for week.
Looking forward to wild parking by beaches and lots of history.

If you're thinking of doing the D-Day Landings, start at Pegasus Bridge, near Caen then work your way slowly along the coast south to Colville for the US Cemetery. There are numerous museums etc. along the way, some excellent, others a waste of time (and money!). There is a Memorial Museum at Caen - very interesting and worth a day if it's raining, but not really related to the D-Day Landings.

Can't help with wild-camping sites, I think you may have problems with that, but there are loads of aires. Just a warning - the French go on holiday last 2 weeks of July/ first 2 weeks of August and you will find everywhere absolutely stacked out.
