We have had to make a last minute change of plan (due to quarantine imposed in France and uncertainty with other countries), so instead of heading down to the Dordogne we have decided to head to the Norfolk/Suffolk area.

Looking for suggestions of places to visit and stay. Our 9 year old has asked if we can not look at too many 'monuments' on this trip!

I think going to see the seals would be great, although if we could do this without the boat trip that would be great (wife gets very sick in small boats).

We're happy with everything from CL's and campsites, to overnight stops (although I don't imagine there are too many places like that there).

Any recommendations would be great, along with any local knowledge of 'quiet' (if that's possible at the moment!), beaches/other places of interest with motorhome friendly parking!

Thanks All :)

we saw lots of seals on the beaches around waxham sands campsite. southwold is lovelyboth in town and down by the harbour where you can buy fresh fish and crabs or eat a meal need to book if you want weekends its a popular noisey site Aldorough is nice as well

Bury St Edmunds West Suffolk. A beautiful town with an aire right where you want it. Ram meadow car park has 8 dedicated motorhome places. You need a day here. 2nd oldest town in Great Britain full of historic buildings and Abbey ruins, thanks to Henry the eighth.

Gt yarmouth has a pleasure beach for entertainment.... if it's open of course. A bit further down the coast is Walton on the Naze and Clacton on Sea. !!!

Just keep doing monuments and castles and stuff

Aldeburgh is very sweet. Brilliant parking for the moho on the beach ( pebble) - no overnight but rather full of the Chelsea Set. We were there last week. Loads of hidden CS. Norfolk is our favourite county.

Banham zoo is almost next door to Bressingham if you’re in the area.

Both would keep a 9 year old entertained :)

We stayed at Kelling Heath Park with our Grandson and had a day out on The Poppy Line - he loved it and we would go back with him.

We've also stopped at a CL or CS near Aylesham, not only trains but also the bike ride The Marriott Way and there is also The Weavers Way and others. All are mostly traffic free and flat.

Walberswick, Suffolk.

Wells next the Sea, Norfolk.

Kids will love them.

Norfolk, Kelling Heath nice large site for young kids, Blakeney is just around the coast from there where they have river trips around to see the seals at close proximity. Steam museum down the road too.

just looking at this wells next the sea maybe worth a look

Fantastic beaches t'other side of the dunes through the pine trees. All the 'seaside stuff' in the town. Something for everyone. A nice walk (or cycle perhaps) along the North Norfolk coast path to Holkham and Burnham Overy Staithe beyond. Nine year old should sleep well after that ::bigsmile:

We are at a temporary holiday site at Sea Palling in Norfolk. This finishes on 6th September so probably no good to the op. There is a C&CC CS (Keith’s Farm) right next door though.

Sea Palling is a lovely spot though with everything you could want and a lovely sandy beach. We have walked along the beach to look at the seals.

Another vote here for Cliff House, Dunwich. Dartford Warblers and Nightjars on the heath. The bar wasn't open when I visited about a month ago, they were just doing takeaway food instead.

Get the boy a cheap fishing rod and explore the broads 🐟🐟🐟🐟

You could stop off in Constable country on the way Flatford mill etc

We also postponed our trip to France and ended up in Norfolk. We are on a CL site at Cantley called the Reedcutter Inn. Right by the broads and watching the boats go by. The pub serves great food and mainly £8 a meal on their reduced menu but still good choice

We had a good walk around Great Yarmouth prom today and can definitely confirm it’s open! Beach looked fab and not too busy at all. In fact we are rather pleased that we headed over here instead of France on the end. Seeing one of above suggestions about Bury St Edmunds, I think we might try there as we head home again
