How are electric conversions from USA spec 110v to UK 240v done?

Do appliances have to be replaced with 240v models?

All conversion info gratefully received (No, I'm not looking to do my own, I'm failing to understand how it's done and need to satisfy my own curiosity).

Thanks in advance

Our Monaco was converted professionally by Ridgeset RV. The generator, charger/inverter and major appliances fridge/freezer, combi microwave and washing machine have remained on 110v. The socket ring main has been converted to 240v. There's two transformers, 110v-240v stepping the output of the inverter and generator up to 240v. The 240v-110v steps the shore supply power supply down for the 110v appliances.
Hope that helps
