Whilst packing the van this morning, I had the old sliding hanger syndrome. Quick raid of parts bin ( the garage!) for an old bicycle inner tube, cut it to appropriate length, threaded over the hanger rail and, voila! Non slip hanger rail!

hanger rail

Good idea. Must look better than our clothes pegs. Although on a long trip there isn't room for anything to slide!

A length of 3/4" 18mm pipe insulation cut into pieces between the hangers also works well

NO chance of anything moving on our hanger rail----packed too tight:Sad::Sad:
BUT we still had problems with stuff slipping off the hangers---bought some 'felt' covered hangers from Poundland------they do not feel too strong but have not broken one --yet::bigsmile:

I've replaced all hangers with the felt ones and although we've had the odd snapped one, they are still worth it. ::bigsmile:
