Bought a couple of cheapie sensors on tinternet to play with.

Confused by the wiring
Pos
Neg
Switch wire
And one other

Put 12v to pos and neg and when sensor is near water the switch wire rises to 12v so could act as a switch or remote LED

But what's the 4th wire for? On a brief play today there doesn't appear to be any change.

Cheers in advance

Edit should have added in case anyone is translating the wires are brown and blue (12v), yellow switch and finally black

Might be a pull-down connection for the floating output.

If you google. xkc-y25-npn. One of the results is a pdf by Naylamp mechatronics.

Brown. Power supply 5-24v
Yellow Output signal
Black. Control, changes output signal
Blue. Ground

Always an answer here 😁

So essentially its a level switch?

Would perhaps be better off with a magnet & reed switch at least you know what it does and how.

Just a thought/comment no need for anyone to ride off in to the sunset about it, (unless you're THAT sort of person)

Definitely simpler but this device doesn't require anything inside the tank. Apart from water :giggle: .

Ahh, good point

Alas in my control system days, you got what you paid for, Handsomely to get a reliable, repeatable reading from a none contact detector.

Point taken but its for a black tank and float switches seem to be notoriously unreliable in this type of situation. If my solution is any better remains to be seen.
