The oven in our motorhome is a Thetford OG70000.
Like most motorhome ovens, it rattles.
I have noticed however that it is only fixed at the front where it screws into the surround.
The back of the oven is unsupported (i.e. it cantilevers into the opening)
There is a shelf below, but the oven sits about 20mm above the shelf.
I think this is why it rattles as it is free to vibrate up and down at the back.
The installation instructions appear to indicate that it can sit on the shelf and I was thinking about adding a packer.
Does anyone know if all ovens are fitted like this or can they rest on the shelf as the installation instructions appear to indicate?

As far as I'm aware my one simply sits on the base of the cabinet and held in by screws at the front. The only rattling I have is from the grill pan and internal shelves.
I simply stuff the oven gloves into the gaps.
The front baking trays sit on standard non slip mat

We use our oven and grill to store bottled water when travelling, which stops rattles from our oven.
We also place a washing-up drying map on the hob under the glass lid which stops that from rattling as well.
I have tried everything but the rattle remains.
I think the oven being unsupported at the rear is possibly the cause of the problem.
Alternatively, it could be something to the underside of the hob, but unfortunately the oven would need to be removed to gain access.
It is annoying as there are very few rattles elsewhere in the motorhome.

Also worth checking the clips which hold the inner glass of the door to the oven. Slide the glass out and slightly bend the clips to hold the glass firm. Another rattle source is the sliding plate above the oven door which protects the control knobs, ensure it is pushed in to travel.

If it was totally unsupported at the rear I would have expected it to have ripped the screws out of the front and gone walkabout around the van by now
I would definitely investigate to see if a bracket/support has come off the rear or missing completely

Definitely not supported.
There is a drawer below the oven which when removed gives me a good view of the underside of the oven.
It is not a large oven (combined oven and grill) but it does seem strange that it is not supported at the rear.
It would be easy to insert a piece of wood as a pack between the bottom of the oven and the shelf, but I was concerned about it being a fire risk. The installation instructions however appear to indicate that this is ok.

That’s what I would be doing👍👍👍

You could maybe wrap the packer in fire proof material ( fire blanket) just to give you piece of mind👍

We have an Elddis CV20 and had a very noisy squeak coming from the microwave!
Took me a year to find how to stop it.
Put a small piece of card between microwave cupboard and the flyscreen housing! Hey presto no squeak.
Wrapping the grill pan etc worked for us ,too.

My rattle is from the cab window blinds. The windscreen ones dont seem to do it. I think it is the frame that makes the noise, unfortunately as it is mainly the drivers side it isnt practical to stuff bits of foam in while driving.

Same here. Tried a giant plastic bulldog clip to no avail. Then tried stuffing it with a sponge / condensation pad....which did work, right up to the point where I opened the window and another £1 worth disappeared down the road  . Now I just let it shake rattle and roll.

Cured our rattling Remis door screen with a wodge of "black tack" to stick the offending section to the door window frame.

Our cooker sounded like it was trying to escape, the weight our Thetford Caprice cooker was only supported by the flanged frame that sits on the worktop and I found that both rear supports were broken, I had to lift the cooker up a few inches to find the problem. I welded a reinforcing piece into the top frame and it’s been fine since.

Have put a piece of fire retardant Celotex insulation under ours, seems to help,
Also use the oven to store towels when travelling, stops most of the rattles
I worked in the cladding industry for many years... No PIR insulation product is fire retardant.... No matter what the manufacture states....the manufacturers lied for years claiming fire ratings which in reality related to the aluminium coating on one side of the product... Not the PIR insulation behind it!... Hence it is no longer allowed in high rise or multi occupation dwellings.... I would remove it from anywhere near my oven....

This is written by t'other Arf btw... And it was his job for many more years than he would care to admit!
