Noise , wheel bearing?

Hi , just trying to find out if I’m on the right track. My lads Clio makes an (to me) awful noise that increases with speed even with clutch in so assume it is wheel bearings .
This morning I jacked it up spun drivers front wheel and seems fine but passenger side although no major noise feels loose
So I checked wheelnuts and seem tight
But there is definitely play/movement when you pull push on the wheel.
Wheel bearings?
 
Check brake pads wear limiter, some pads have a metal tab to let you know they finished. Also disk guard can rub. Bearings usually changes pitch with weight distribution when cornering. I could be bearings if is a high mileage, or driven on bumpy rods most of the time.
 
With wheel off the floor there's no load on the bearing so may well be quiet.
Straight driving may be quiet-ish but corners put a very high load on the bearing and a lot of rumbling.
 
Does the noise change when turning/ cornering at a constant speed
As you load/ unload the bearing it will change noise

Find a quiet road or car park drive in Right hand circle that will load passenger wheel bearing and make more noise
than driving in left hand circles weight off the n/s bearing
and visa versa
 
I’m going out now so will see if I can hear different noise whilst cornering.
 
If there is play in the wheel, that needs to be repaired anyway, and is most likely the cause of the noise.
Does the play disappear if the brake pedal is applied? As the calliper will clamp the disc. The movement of the disc inside the calliper, when wheel is under load, could be the noise.
 
Standard way to check is to jack up the suspect side wheel (not both)
Start car and put into gear and you can spin up the wheel and if the bearing is gone it will be ovious. Switch off any traction control if fitted.
Im asuming your are concerned about one of the front wheels on FWD car
You need to be confedent in what your are doing and have decent axel stands etc
Alternative as others have said noise should be difrent when turning on one lock campared to other with least noise when going in a streight line.
It can sometimes be dificalt to decide which side is noisey
 
A horrible noise stopped when the trapped stone that was rubbing against the brake disk eventually fell out.

A different horrible noise when cornering was tracked down eventually to a cracked ABS ring (uncommon).

Armchair diagnosis is stricky stuff.
 
if you can feel movement get someone to press hard and hold on the brake pedal and check for movement then check if no movement definately wheel bearing if still movement will be a joint
 
We’ll just been out, noise definitely worse turning left almost totally goes turning right!

Turning left loads right hand wheel so likely it’s the drivers side , you can usually tell by noise , if it’s the back or front
 
If one is gone I’d just replace both. No more issues
 
You can normally hear if they are gone by spinning the wheel.

If there is play in it, and it isn’t from the suspension components, almost certainly.
