Hi
I've pulled up on site in my mh , filled my on-board tank, switched on on-board pump and pump runs and sounds like running dry.
I know you have to prime the system but this doesn't seem to be happening and I don't want to burn out pump. Pump runs even when taps closed and I've tried turning microswitch to stop pump but doesn't stop pump.
Any ideas or have you experienced this problem?

Is you frost dump valve closed? Have a look underneath to see if it’s leaking through 👍

It will take time, which if new can feel like ages. Especially the hot water.

Fill up tank. Make sure dump valve is shut. Close all taps and start opening the farthest away one by one. Refill water tank half way through. It takes time.

Pump won’t stop if taps closed as it will be trying to compress air.

If it's in the tank it will be a whale type vane pump.
It shouldn't run if the taps are closed whereas an inline pump is pressure controlled and if it ain't pumping water it can't turn off.

Your fresh tank is definitely under the van???

I had this with a shureflow pump, had to buy a new one. I did temporarily replace with a whale pump.

garry63 If you can find where the supply pipe runs inside the van , and a connection that you can get at , you may be able to disconnect the pipe and back fill it which may work in priming it. There may be a water pressure switch that has a connection you could use for this.

Happens with a Shureflo pump if there is the slightest leak at the pump, the screws holding the pump the pump together only have to work a fraction loose.

I had it took the pump apart gave the mating surfaces a smear of silicon grease put it back together with threadlock on the screws, it was perfect.

As did I and hey presto it worked fine again.

Just like to add that I had something similar with our Swift Escape (i.e. pump continually running and practically no water delivery).

The cure seemed to be replacing the water filler cap. The normal blue one is a bit flimsy and I have got through two of them by accidentally breaking one of the three lugs, thus not being able to completely ‘air tight’ the tank.
I now have a white one sold for marine purposes which is sooo much better made. It feels solid, tight, and is good and strong when opening/closing without fear of breaking anything.

Hi I sorted by emptying tank refilling then take inletwater pipe off and blowing through to clear air lock it worked
