Got two vehicles parked outside my door owned by the bloke oppisite me. Gypsie family how do you get these vehicles moved one has been there since August 2018. DVLA dont whant to k no Police are not interested and council dont care. So how the hell do you get these vehicles moved. He uses one every day for the school run and carries a new born baby, daughter and wife in the car and nothing is done.

Chief Constable. Local paper will be interested but could cause more agro than you have already. Tell him the Local Plod are not interested and ask him what they will do if he causes an accident.

sounds to me as if your neighbors have little care for much or fear of any outcome of their actions.

so IMHO you have only a few choices;

* go the whole hog and get the vehicles moved. But be prepared to fight your corner with the neighbor which could get nasty and result in a worse situation than you have now.
* Forget about it and move on with life.
*Move away from it.

There is a similar situation near my youngest home, dont know how they get away with it. I dont envy you on this one.
hope you can sort it peacefully.

If the vehicles do in some material way inconvenience you, perhaps you can chat to the owner and say “would you mind not parking right there as it prevents me from...”

That way you can broach it without it being an open declaration of hostilities.

And if this doesn’t resolve it and you do need to take it further at least you tried to do it in the neighbourly way first.

Not clear if they are obstructing you, or is it the fact that they are untaxed

My view, not worth the stress, or park yours outside his house

Life’s too short to let an idiot give you a coronary:)

DVLA and council are a waste of space in this instance. We had a dumped van outside our house and they both did nothing.

Council kept cancelling the complaint because they did not want it showing on their "Performance indicators". They accepted every excuse the van owner made. DVLA did nothing.

Remember if you own your house and they don't you are on a lose/lose. You have to declare a dispute with a neighbour when you sell it.

As previously stated life is too short.

They are exempt...............

Around here they are clamping anything that isn’t taxed.

If I were you I would write to the Chief Constable of the police complaining about the local police stations lack of activity and making it clear that he is driving this vehicle daily even with children travelling in it. Say how disgusted you are etc and that you are surprised that the police have such a relaxed attitude to the health and safety of the general public.

Because of the way society is these days he ( or she) will act upon it because his/her head will be on the block if anything bad happens.

They did at one time have a system here where they actually "removed" anything without tax, MOT or insurance but I think the recyclers charged the council a lot of money to scrap a car so they stopped it. :(

Yes that’s right Mike. I acted for a number of London Borough’s a few years back when the usual try on merchants claimed the removed cars contained £2000 in cash and iPads etc:rolleyes:

Or go to your MP and ask why the local council / police / DVLA are not doing their job. Take evidence of the reports you have already made :)

Local MP involved stating police aware and taking no action & Repeatedly reported to DVLA online and taking no action.
Letter to top dog at local police HEADQUARTERS stating local police aware and taking no action.

If you can't get action at the front line go to the top.

Puddleduck beat me to it.

Then he potentially ensures that vehicles are legal in future and simply continues to park in the same place? While now possibly also having a massive axe to grind with you...

Last resort... The council will remove.

I am not one for backing away from NECESSARY confrontation. The military in me instilled that. BUT; all actions need to carried out while being "Fully aware of and Willing" to deal with any potential escalation in circumstances.

You should not have to make that a consideration in this case but it is likely it will need to be.

my final remark on this; its easy for us to advise you from behind our keyboards, we do not have to deal with this. hope all goes your way.(y)

If the vehicle is being used it is the police responsibility if it has been dumped it is the council. As you have tried both these routes your next step should be to write to the chief constable, then your police commissioner and then finally your M.P. and explain that none of those departments are doing the job that they are paid to do.

Spongy

Apply for a writ of Mandamus

Buy two old scrappers, wait till he goes out and park your own old bangers there....:D2

Burglars and paedophiles probably don't affect you either. The vehicle is uninsured and untaxed so affects all of us.
