After reading Buttons thread on the proposed ban on smoking in London's parks I wondered if any campsites had a No Smoking rule.. a quick Google and lo and behold there is a least one...

Broken Link Removed

Beinglas Farm Completely non-smoking.. (not sure if this applies to touring pitches.)

frankly I am surprised but where one goes another is sure to follow.

If the argument for banning in parks is that it creates litter, they are seen healthy places and we don't want to encourage kids to take it up.. it follows that campsites would be the same.. ?

Would you welcome a ban on no smoking in campsites or think it's just another rule you can do without ?

I think the no smoking in public places is enough. A ban on campsites is taking it a bit too far I think.

Wot about farting???
As long as you don't light it, or as Bill Clinton might have said, don't inhale.

I'm all for banning smoking totally. We excoriate drug dealers etc, but cigarette have caused more ill health, misery, financial ruin and cost to the NHS and yet bosses of tobacco companies get knighted. They should be in gaol.

The question wasn't about banning smoking Ken.. The question was would you welcome a ban on campsites.

Surely it is the right of non smokers to go to a non smoking site if they wish.. just as it's the right of those who want an adult only site to patronise a site that bans children ?

Never heard of anyone dying from passive child syndrome

I would ban in it for car drivers first. All to often the driver drops a ciggie or it falls from the ashtray and has to bend to pick it up. I know theres no actual ashtrays in modern vehicles nowadays but it can be dropped just the same. I know I was guilty in my smoking days.

It's not about having a general smoking ban on campsites.. but would you welcome it if offered.

They absolutely have that right however they have don't have a right to expect a site that allows smoking to change that rule to suit them anymore than anyone has a right to expect something to be banned because they personally don't like it.

BTW I'm an ex smoker but I don't have any problem with other people choosing to do so. I'm more anti seeing bloody e-cigarette things in places like pubs.

Id ban all the things I enjoyed doing when I was younger but have given up as I grew older.
1. Smoking
2.Drinking.
3. Copulation.
4. Travelling.
5. Socialising. (Partying)
6. Laughing.
7. Fish and Chip suppers.
8. Chinese takeaways.
9. Chocolate biscuits.
10. Farting.

I'd like to see a law. If you enjoy it. BAN IT!!

personally I don't care either Ken.. live and let live.. that goes for any activity or habit, be it smoking, drinking, shooting up heroin, smoking weed.. it's their body.. , provided it doesn't interfere with others rights not to do it or suffer from it.

That saying certainly has gone out the window.
Too many interfering do gooders now who want everyone to live their lives as they see it. Used to be called Nosey _ukers

I don't think it would bother me either way. (Smokey barbeques are a pain :) ) but someone sat smoking under their awning wouldn't/couldn't bother me at all, why would it?

not sure why these sites banned it.. maybe the same reasons given by Boris .. influencing children .. litter perhaps.. ?
only guessing.. but the march is on to have a smoking free country.. not in my lifetime but I think it is inevitable.

I voted don't care..
Reason ?
If they can do without me smoking they can do without my money too
Camp sites in the UK are already way down my list of places to go.. Whilst some are ok at best, I rarely find one that I would consider good value for money and most are over priced.
Let them ban what ever they like.. After all, I am sure they all doing SOOO well they can afford to alienate 10 to 15% of potential customers

Although I gave up years ago, a two pack a day habit, It doesn't worry me if someone smokes near/beside me, each to their own.
Even so! would not go to a site that bans it! That is a step too far!

Since 2009 with motorhomes several caravans then tents before that.
I'd like no smoking beaches though. Or smoking in designated areas only beaches.
Nothing worse getting lounged out, on your holidays , then someone comes along and sits right next to you puffing away. Then stubbing their fag out in the sand.
When the kids were little , there was nothing worse ( except dog poo) then a fag but sandcastle !

As for campsites ? family side , couples side, smoking side , non smoking side. Sounds good ? but what about the families that smoke , or the couples that smoke....... What about the singletons? It's taking it too far. IMO.

We don't smoke.
It's awful someone's fag smoke wafting into your own Motorhome , granted. But were never in one place long. If we were I'd move if it bothered me that much. I just shut the windows.

I reckon they should ban old people.

They fart too much and are grumpy

I think if they allow us older grumpy generation onto their smoke free, child free, dog free, sites they should issue us with a curfew that we should be in bed by 8pm at the latest. without exception... :)

for someones fag smoke to waft into your motorhome, they would have to stand at the window and deliberately blow the smoke through the window. Thats NOT on...
