They do very well in a remoska
Would you like to clarify what you mean by 'very well' ... not a phrase usually associated with FB pies! :D2

Just reflecting on how I started (caravanning).
We didn't even have a fridge, let alone an oven!

We enjoy the same tasty food home or away.

So do we - just sometimes cooked a little differently.

We hardly ever eat out, I am brilliant cook too, my home is an on going restaurant for my hubby, no fry ups here though, plus I am gluten free, so anything out is expensive.

Far easier and safer to cook for yourselves (I am a super sensitive coeliac).

I often take a bread maker away with me (handy when on EHU) and I bought a small bread maker for the van, although it comes into the house as it's a better size for day to day use than the big machine.

An Omnia is on my wish list :) It would have to be new though as there is too much risk of cross contamination from used.

We'd die without our oven and even our four rings are not big enough sometimes. We love to buy local products en route and we only eat freshly prepared food. Travelling through Europe and not cooking the superb regional specialities would make remove 50% of the enjoyment.

When you do the calculations it will be a large inverter.
That's why I haven't felt the need:). A 2kW  one will do the job though.

Every time I read the title of this thread I find myself talking in Wigunese.

I'm confused by those who consider an oven to be too heavy, but they carry enough pre-prepared food with them for their trip. Doesn't that weigh more? Why not travel with the minimum of ingredients, buy locally as you go along, and cook fresh seasonal meals? It's all part of the thrill of discovering new places.

No wishing to upset anyone but just curious what specifically needs an oven when cooking from scratch ? Only things I can think of are baking , pies and quiche as I said before and I guess roast meat and roast potatoes . Since moving to France 15 years ago I rarely use my oven so maybe my style of cooking has changed ?

Our oven is used frequently, daily in cooler weather. It is a bit eccentric but SWMBO is used to its foibles.

How about crumbles, tagines, moussakas, cottage pies and chicken, roasted slowly with potatoes, herbs, olive oil & lemon! Wow! I can taste it now ...!

My wife loves cooking and our previous van had a brilliant oven ,but our Rapido has the most useless excuse of an oven,I think it's made by Dometic,I am taking into DMS at Nuneaton tomorrow to see if they can improve it.

tagines can be easily cooked on the cooker rings . often do them when away or at home. love local mackerel cooked in them with a nice drop of argon oil mmmm.
let the veg soak up the oil as well.
close my eyes and i,m in maroc again.

When we were looking for our new PVC I thought I had found our ‘holy grail’ - a gorgeous Cartargo Malibu.
Nearly did the deal initially but thought it wise to bring Mrs T along to see it - it was going to be a suprise for her.
In she jumped - “what no oven, no grill, no microwave and this little twin burner”????
Whoops.
Apparently I didn’t notice such trivial things.
We always have a full cooker setup as we cook everything as we do at home, including cakes and local bought fare. Other than what’s fitted (full cooker & micro) we just take the Cadac for outside ‘of a warm evening’ eating.
Nothing like getting back to the MoHo after a winters walk on the coast path to a nice cooked dinner.

Trikeman. ;)

Our present PVC came as standard with just a grill.

We use an oven regularly to heat food so asked for it be swapped. It won’t do a Sunday roast (I think), but it has done everything we have asked of it.

Wouldn’t be without it.
