Insurance due today....
Prevoius 2 yrs have been £350 then £354 last year....

Been leaving it .. and pondering...
Could have just renewed with CC and "blagged" it for £380.. or less with others...

But felt I had to be above board.. so rang Comfort and took their full-timer policy...

£1330.85 ... Ouch!.. but on the plus side... I (hopefully) won't have to wriggle IF owt happens... and I do feel better inside in some respects...

Out of interest, when does using the motorhome a lot, change to becoming a fulltimer to the point where you need fulltimers cover ?

How much is your van worth? I was paying £254 for a van that cost me just shy of £60k
By my calculation, your van must be worth £330k!

I had trouble finding insurance for a van that was valued at £120k , it also possibly because its a "company vehicle "

I'm thinking I should call them...

Whilst I gave them my payment details on 12th (which they confirmed went thru for £1,330.85)... and immediately emailed docs etc to me..... as yet there is no cleared payment showing.. and only £880 on my account showing as "uncleared"... but I am unable to see detail ... and I'm sure there is nothing other than insurance to clear!... odd!..

Edit: however, I Am (MH) showing as being insured on the MID database ...

What annual mileage have you gone for? With Comfort, there's a big hike in the premium with each mileage band for full timing. My premium this year was just over £600 but I lowered the mileage as I won't be travelling around much this year before the van has to be sold.

The company vehicle bit has probably put quite a hike on it also once you go to a van over a 100k insurance appears to rocket from 300 quid up to 800-1000.

i used my local broker whom i know quite well and he said that there was only one underwriter who would do the insurance ,the problem would appear that it is a company vehicle (tax reasons) and im the named driver

£421 for pan European cover away for as long as we like. Van in excess of £100k. NFU Mutual, Chichester branch; call 01243 784022. No insistence on alarm or tracker although I do have them fitted.

I was paying £1400 Full Time with (AVIVA) Comfort on a 1992 Hymer S700 I enquired about mileage and was told it made no difference to the premium if I restricted it. I think age was also contributing as I was 73. When I dropped Full Time cover after going back to bricks and mortar they wanted £700+ with storage location restrictions Airsports Insurance Brokers (AIB) were £350 with no storage restrictions..

We're with Safeguard, and just renewed at £670. I also checked that it was for 365 days cover for anywhere in the EU. They did ask though if we lived in it full time, which we don't. Because of the value of the motorhome they insisted on a tracker when we took out the original insurance and this cost us about £600 for 3 years

Its a bit like any insurance, everybody gets quoted massive differences, even from the same firm.
Sometimes I think its who answers the phone and what mood their computer is in at that particular moment.

Insurance companies and bookmakers both profit from the fact that most folk know very little about odds.

I've been fulltime for decades.

Never had so called "fulltime" insurance.
