Aug 09 to date 9,000 miles!
Not defending insurers (but they do pay my pension and also Pete's so I shan't be criticising them too much!) but the reason they all go for Tracker is because it's still the only one (as far as I know, but I may be out of date here) which communicates directly with the Police.

That is the reason.

We used C&CC, they wanted a tracker fitted because of the value and we got a good deal through them for an Appello Geo tracker.
It's a self install system with yearly subs.
Seems to work well, but we also have another system installed. Belt and braces style.

Yes one of the "Tracker" products radio's the Police, IF a vehicle is equipped with a receiver. That means that a stolen vehicle has to pass by an equipped vehicle within about two miles.

Most tracking systems are now GSM and GPS so distance is not an issue, so can communicate with the control centre so can liaise with any control centre ergo Police vehicle.

:(Hi
Earlier in this thread it was mentioned about the self monitoring units you can get off ebay, I thought there was a link originally but it seems to have been lost ( due to the migration to the new site possibly.)

Thought I'd also bookmarked the ebay page but hadn't.

Can anyone help please?
