Does anyone know how to find out your no claims bonus. I have had my moho since 2015 but only got records for insurance since 2017 and cant remember who we used prior to 2017. If i cant find out Premium goes up £125.

Hi
Not sure why you think you need previous insurers you current company/last one will have stated your ncd years on your renewal.
You would have had to declare/prove to your insurers in 2017 a claim for ncd for 2015 & 2016.

Some insurers don't give NCB on Motorhome policies.
The OPs previous insurer may have been one that doesn't.

Hi Pappajohn

Yes thinking about it there are, think Comfort (Aviva) is one. Reminds me I once had a conversation about this very thing with an insurer. To say they couldn't quote against a flat rated policy like Comfort because there was no NCD. Went along the lines of so you charge me more than XXX so you can give me an NCD. Was a bit surreal at the time as I recall.

Just goes to show that sometimes keeping a bit of paperwork or notes in book/spreadsheet pays for itself. Learned years ago in engineering and contracts, if possible make a few notes as you go so you can refer back to as memory aids.

Cheers All, Stay safe.

Next year introductory bonuses go I understand from an underwriter. He was not sure how it will pan out, but my gut feeling is it will cost us more

Another advantage of staying with nfu never the cheapest but never goes up and nothing to remember as they do it all for you.

Had a quote this year from NFU was £200+ more than AIB. TBH think given the Covid situation and working from home and a less than sensible underwriter who didn't understand the Immobiliser, alarm & tracker fitted. They probably would have done better

I have the last three years from aib but cant find 2016 and 15. Found a company who can tell you who you have been insured with so going down that route. Just goes to show keep your paperwork dont burn it like i do !

Ask Comfort for a quote, in their world the “con” of no claims bonus doesn't exist

Similar problem with showing a no claims bonus.
I have been insured by motor trade policies since I was self employed since I was 23, originally just me then my wife in 1968, increasing to over 30 employees by 2006. Since retiring I have remained active in the motor trade so continued with a motor trade policy. The last claim was in 2005, a useless lorry driver nudged one of our vans, driver was not insured ! Claim was for £2300 not major.

Our insurers have decided that being over 75 I am no longer elidgable to drive under a trade policy, they let it go last year as I was 74 when we renewed on the 31st of October ( birthday 10th November ) but now I shall be 76 they do’nt want to know. Last points on my licence were 1990ish, wife, yes, 2015, 34mph in a 30 area.

We have always insured our motor homes separately with Comfort, we can’t use our NCB with them unless we drop that insurance. I got a quote from Admiral for three cars, over £1200 so that did not appeal. I then got a quote from a local broker which also includes my Yamaha scooter and for the A frame mods to our Argo, the price is acceptable at £760, but this depends on our trade insurers supplying written conformation of no accidents in the last 9 years, still chasing them !
The new insurers cover comes with windscreen, breakdown and legal cover which our trade insurance did not have.

No claims bonus is something I had not thought about over the years or else I would have insured something cheap and built some up, A bit late now.

I changed my daily drive recently and was asked about no claims discount. Logged into current insurers website and took a screenshot of the page stating 15 years plus. Went back and asked the new insurer Aviva where to send proof..... no need as its all online and because of covid they are not accepting letters

My sister has worked in motor insurance for years and some of the tales about these unknown insurers would make your hair curl. Forget about being paid out for a claim, some of the ones that appear too cheap to be true are actually fake. Good insurance cover, like most other top quality purchases cost more, but the value is in when you really need it. We stick with big name companies for insurance, based on real world reviews. The motorhome is with NFU

Some of the big insurers will mirror the NCD on your most used vehicle if you are starting from scratch

Check your bank statements for who you paid prior....👍🏼

Bank statements good idea thanks just smiffy . But no doubt ive burnt them job for mrs on line. The company we have contacted sounds like they may come up trumps.
