Calor have held the lion's share of the bottled gas market for years and, in the best tradition of British industry, have sat on their backsides and done nothing to future proof it.
Their "Gas Lite" fiasco is the bottled gas equivalent of the Morris Ital in BL's dying throes ?
Imagine if they'd got their act together, took on an item similar to the "Safefill" bottle and ran a few automated pumps at their outlets. They could have recaptured the leisure market and still sat on their butts, leaving the customer to heave the cylinders around ?

To be honest they are not bothered about us , it’s just buisness and money. If it’s working for them why would they change.

You are 100% right Jock. It’s not as if they haven’t been told either. They know the score and their promises to replace the Gaslite bottles was a lie. Mind you, with the advent of electric cars and the demise of gas pumps at garages, the writing is on the wall. Once monopolies take control we are all ripped off.

I'm thinking of having refillable gas installed.
Probably go for propane over butane but not sure
Question is, what are the differences when I come to fill up?

No difference as the gas at the pumps is mainly propane with some butane (approx 90/10).

By the way check this out -
“In 2013 the Health and Safety Executive prosecuted a man who had sold more than 700 potentially dangerous adaptors to members of the public, enabling LPG cylinders to be filled at petrol stations.”
Copied from an article on the internet about concerns over the increase in unlawful and dangerous refilling of LOG cylinders at petrol stations.

There is a huge shortage of LPG at the pumps as well as a bottle shortage. People are struggling to find garages with any LPG at all

Just looked at our calor gas buying record over past 4 years. Price for 13 kg(?) bottle moved from £22 to just under £30 last week. Top price £39 when we ran out and went to a tourist area petrol station.
