Hi,

Firstly merry Christmas and a happy new year to all.

The 12 volt system on my Devon Aztec has stopped working. All was fine when I went to bed last night but this morning no power. When I press the power button on the controller it does not power up or light up but just bleeps at about 1 per second. Pressing and holding the power button stops the bleep but it comes back if I press it again. I’ve checked the battery which is fully charged. I tried connecting the mains hookup and the battery charger is working ok as is the fridge on mains so I’m pretty sure it’s not a battery fault. I’ve checked all the fuses I can find both in the battery compartment and the main fuse box and they are all ok. Also checked for any lose connections but all seem good. I’m out of ideas and the dealer is now closed for Christmas so I’m stuck till New Year.

I’m thinking the control unit may be faulty and just wondered if anyone has had a similar problem and how they fixed it.

Thanks

It does sound like it as if the battery is full & on ehu it still isn't working then it could well be the panel itself. Did you check all the fuses with a meter as just looking sometimes they can look ok but aren't ?

does sound like a control unit problem.. perhaps a sticking relay.. do you know what make it is ?

do you have an instruction book .. is there a reset sequence ?

you could also try 're-booting' it..

unplug EHU, switch off the unit and pull the battery fuse.. wait a couple of minutes, then replace fuse, switch on and see if the 12v comes back

Thanks for the ideas. I’ve checked the fuses with a meter and all are good. I’ve also rebooted by disconnecting battery for a few minutes. I’ll have a look at the relays tomorrow

Don't like stating the obvious, but have you actually checked on the battery terminals to see if the voltage is OK? There's several possible faults where the charger looks OK but the battery is not actually being charged.

Hi thanks. I have checked the battery at the terminals and it is ok.

Problem solved.
I finally traced the problem to a faulty relay in the water pump circuit. The relay was shorting internally. Although not mentioned in the manual the controller must switch off automatically when it detects an overload so effectively each time I turned it on it immediately shut down. A message on the LCD would have been helpful. Anyhow, a replacement relay has cured the problem so I can relax and enjoy Christmas.

Many thanks for all the helpful advice.

Hi Meggers, I have lost power in my aztec, 2019 m0del but the control panel functions. But perhaps there's a similar problem. Where is the relay located and can you recall where you got a new one. Thanks, Geoff

Hi,
Mine is a 2008 model which had a fairly basic electrical system. I think the 2019 models use a Sargent controller. The fuses and relays are in the unit I believe.

It sounds like a different problem to me - your control panel is working but there's no power. First thing to check is the battery voltage, then the fuse near the leisure battery in the main supply wire. Then you can tell if the problem is the battery or the distribution/fusebox. It would help to know the make/model of the distribution/fusebox, and/or a picture of it.

Most of the relays and fuses are built into the distribution/fusebox on modern motorhomes like yours. Probably soldered to a circuit board, so not exactly a 5-minute job to fix them.

Yes I have checked battery voltage and nearby fuse. I have spoke with Sargent who are very helpful. Ive ended up ordering a new control panel and Power supply unit. I hopefully will find its one of those and can return the other item. Thanks for yr advice bud.

Great to hear you're up and running again. Did it need a new control panel as well, or just the psu?
