.............................................................................................

Last Wednesday we set off to Grimsby..... Had a stop off at a lovely campsite by Silverstone Wed night...

Camp site near Silverstone, Beautiful...

Early`ish start Thursday and headed up to a nice pub stop over Thurs night... (The Swallow).... Food was ok`ish, but nothing to shout about... Camping in the large car park free if you have a meal...

Early Friday we had half hour run to (Towbars2 Towcars) to have the A frame fitted to our car... They did the Motorhome first so we could go of for a few hours while they did all the electronics on the car...

We went to a "Morrisons" for some shopping and to have one of their all day breakfasts... Judy went and did the shopping and I sat by the tills waiting, when she came I did not feel so good so said I will go back to the van while she had her fry up..

Went in and laid down.......... and noticed all the buttons were out on all the cupboards.... thought strange as we had got out of the front doors and not been in the back... When Judy came back I asked her if she had popped the catches... NO..

The Computer has gone she said.... and that is why the cupboards had been opened... they were looking for the electric charger lead...

When we got to Morrisons we noticed a few itinerants/illegal looking types looking in car windows.... and thought nothing of it.... Then the penny dropped....

Got the security bloke from the shop and explained everything and he contacted the police.... Blah..Blah...Blah...

As we were driving out we noticed a couple of the same guy`s walking into the shop, so I nipped in and told the security guy they were the ones looking in cars and stood near our van..... He said I have them on camera and they are looking decidedly dodgy round the spirits display.... with that we left...

Back to towbars2towcars....... all finished..... so we set of to Jim`s.... The weather... Rain and wind were horrendous... but after just over an hour we pulled in, the big feller came out and showed us where to plonk ourselves.... John & Mo (Jaws ) were there and a privateer.... Did briefly bump into Gromett which was nice after a few years... but that was it...

Got set up.... and basically that was it..... did not leave the motorhome till next morning, when John came in while Judy and Mo went shopping... Unfortunately those that were coming cancelled due to the weather.... and to be honest I don`t blame them.... If it were not for the fact had we of cancelled we would of had to wait a few weeks to have the A frame fitted..

3 Nights at Jim`s.. Then onto Norfolk for 3 nights (Near Sandringham)..... Stopped at the "Pine Cones"... nice VERY spacious pitches that is all being revamped......... Because of the weather we did not take the A off the toad.... again it was windy and torrential rain...

Pine Cones Site... Huge fully serviced pitches, and in nice weather probably a lovely site..

We were going to have another night at at a little camp site on the way home, but were so fed up, I decided to take a chance and keep plodding on till we got home...

Not a very good trip considering, was nice to catch up with Jim, John and Grommit...

I still cannot believe some one would take the chance of getting in the Camper with Daisy there... she always barks like mad if she is on her own and anyone walks by the camper... Hence why we did not lock the van up.... My fault really but who would of guessed it.... The thieving tow rags must have been desperate... Anyway lesson learnt.... "LOCK UP"...

Must say it has put a dampener on our camping and made us think what with one thing and another do we want to carry on.... The Jury is out.....

So sorry to hear that you didn't have the best of trips and that your Computer was stolen but don't let the thieving lowlifes put you off of using your van.

I really hope that Daisy took a bite out of them!

Sorry to hear about you’re trip to our part of the world. We don’t shop at that Morrisons but we will be a bit wary of we’re we leave the van in future.

These thieves / burglars just make me feel sick.

You aren't the first to find out their beloved dog(s) behave very differently when Mum & Dad aren't around. They may well bark and yap when you are there to alert you and protect you but can hide in the corner equally scared when a stranger enters their space. Please don't beat yourselves up for not locking up properly (if I read your post correctly), we all make mistakes. Dare I say it... could have been worse? You might have returned to find the whole van gone and then the heartache of wondering where your little 4 legged friend is? Dumped in car park or still hostage in the van?

One Boxing Day my family of four went for some fresh air and a little walk around after the Xmas day excesses.....we did lock the doors but when we returned the boys were in and out like yo-yo's playing on new scooters and so when the cold got the better of them we ended up with the rear gate not locked and the rear door to the house behind the gate just slightly ajar........ that was enough opportunity for some scum to stick their head in and take the then wife's handbag left on the worktop after our walk.

You should have said you were going to Silverstone we'd have popped over and I could have really ruined your hollibobs 😂

I was hoping to have a chat with you old-mo but not meant to be. It was my Mum's 80th birthday so I wasn't really around, then when I was it was too miserable to be stood outside.

Hopefully bump into you again before too much longer.

Hi,sorry you've had an eventful trip for all the wrong reasons.Take a deep breath (with your oxygen tank) and let it go.Look forward to the next trip.
If you are missing a laptop and need one I have a old 15" Acer in the cupboard somewhere 🍻👍PM ME

Hi, what is the name of the site near Silverstone please?

Sad to hear of your troubles old-mo. At least you Judy and pooch are safe. And van seems to be undamaged too. no compensation I know, don't let it put you off, don't suppose you heard anything from the police. I had a dog which never barked when anyone came to the door and would sometimes run and hide under the bed. Was away longer than usual one day friend came to feed them and let/take them out, had no trouble getting in and feeding them but she wouldn't let him back out. Sending big :hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs:

My first thought was to wonder about your oxygen saturation, not being rude but that was my doctor’s hat as leaving the van unlocked seemed like madness. I was forgetting about Daisy not being a dog person myself. In a strange way, especially as Daisy hasn’t been harmed and the van hasn’t been damaged I’d say you’ve almost got away lightly. I don’t know if you’d have much luck claiming on insurance as you’ve admitted the van was unlocked. Hopefully it wasn’t too expensive a computer.

We all make mistakes. Nick managed to crush a brand new Macbookpro in his recliner, he panicked and pressed the wrong button and made it worse, I can laugh now but I don’t think I spoke to him for days!

Looks like the old proverb is true "A barking dog seldom bites". I guess the crooks knew that one.

Sorry to read that Mo.

Don't give up on the camping - there are warmer days coming(y)

Thanks Carolyn........... Not going to claim on insurance.... just it had some irreplaceable photo`s on it which Judy had not transferred yet...

It was a good computer, a "Surface Pro"... Luckily it was only used for camping, so no personal stuff on it as in bank details or the like.. And we always had to put in a password before we could enter..

Hope you were not to hard on poor old Nick....... Wrong buttons is a man thing.... You would not understand....

Sorry to hear about your loss,

However, if you decided not to lock the doors you only have yourself to blame unfortunately.

It is unlikely insurance would pay out

Mo said he wouldn't claim in the previous post.

Sorry to learn of your misfortunes Mo ,but leaving the van unlocked is a big no no. If the computer was visible then they probably would have smashed thier way in anyway, so you were probably lucky no damage done, the dogs safe , you still have the van and didn't have to walk home .
Shit happens ,but you were just unlucky .:sym:

She might do, she's a doctor 😂

Did you happen to have device tracking enabled on it? If so, you might be able to track it's location.
If you had it registered with a Microsoft account let them know it's been stolen and if someone else tries to register it again it will flag on Microsoft systems as stolen and they'll advise the police.

Thanks Young-Yin...... we are both not sure what or if we had it registered...

The police are phoning Monday morning, they want a chat.... so maybe they have some news...

We will see.......... I have calmed down a bit now..... it was quite an expensive puter that had very little on it.... we (Or Judy did.).. bought it specifically for the van as it was very light...

Going shopping tomorrow..... :RollEyes::doh::giggler:

All has been said. 1 Dog is well so all is well. Move on and don't give up. Many Mh owners have had the misfortune of break ins. We take the view that everything onboard is replaceable. When the dog was alive I always fretted leaving him just in case someone took him, I just could not live with the knowledge that he had been taken. In fact strange as it is, Whenever we visit a supermarket whether in UK or abroad someone always stays in the van. Its the only time I get the impression that dirt bags could be on the look out. A baddy will follow you around the store talking to any other baddies on their mobile thus giving heads up when you are on the return. So one person always stays in the van

I am always managing to "press trghe wrong buttons" and have the scars to prove it !!

Sorry to hear your latest mishap, chin up, now you've got the towed it will be a lot easier to get out and about. Keep us informed of your trips and I may get to meet you again one of these days, I was going to go to Jim's but he said it was fully booked that weekend.

Talking about you men and pressing the wrong buttons I do remember a very posh young Mum coming into my surgery one day because she was “ terribly worried about her son playing with his penis in public”! I said not to worry as once he was older he’d usually remember to do it in private, this was meant to reassure her but she was even more horrified! I think she was hoping for a way to stop him doing it. Some of the yummy mummies in Sherborne really are from another planet…

The child was about 2 or 3

Really sorry to hear all did not go as well as hoped on your trip “up north” Old Mo. Really annoying about the computer, but as others have said no one hurt, your dog unharmed and no vandalism to your MoHo. Hopefully you will get much better weather on your next trip. Seems ages since we last saw you and Judy. See you are hoping to attend a few Rallies this year and so are we……. Perhaps we will meet again in a field somewhere. Best wishes.

At least you and I didn't get blown off the road last weekend and tbh in the grand scheme of things ATM stuff that happens here in UK is small fry compared to eastern Europe.

Glad you got away.

Hoping my parents get to Devon in march first time out of Dorset for 2 years...!

How did the A frame go Mo,and towing the car back ,any issues?

Woops......... Sorry Jim.... must have missed this post/reply....

Had a couple of "Towbars-2-Towcars.... rigs before and cannot fault them... (y)

Not the cheapest, but in my eyes the best and so easy to couple up...

As the old saying goes.... Cheap = No good, No good Cheap.... :giggler:

Did not know the little Kia was on the back.... towed like a dream..

And the on board puter said we were still returning 29.7 miles to the gallon with an average speed of 42 MPH...

That will do me....(y)

So sorry to hear about losing your computer. Could have been worse. You could have lost your van and your Daisy. We went to Towbars 2 Towcars too and bought a Kia Picante from them. Excellent service and excellent after service too. They are always happy to talk if you have any problems, like forgetting stuff after not being away with van and car for so long after Covid (y) They even loaned us a car while the work was being done so we could take our dogs to a nearby woodland walk :giggle: Lovely guys there

Gina.
