Talking about changing the thermocouple on the grill of Thetford Triplex oven. It's right at the back. Looks like it could all go pear-shaped. Will I regret trying it myself?

I don't know this oven but most need to removed and the side and top covers removed, some only need the top taken off. Have you looked for a you tube video?

In order to change the thermocouple?

Looks that way unless you can get to the back of the oven by crawling up behind it in a very tight space.

"9. Thermocouple replacement Disconnect from gas supply (1). Remove appliance from housing (2). Grill burner - Unscrew the thermocouple from the control. Unscrew the nut at the burner. Oven burner - Unscrew the thermocouple from the control. Inside the oven cavity, the thermocouple is found just above the burner on the rear wall. Unscrew the locknut and pull out the thermocouple from the rear of the appliance."

So if I unscrew the fixings there will presumably be some sort of flexible connector to allow the unit to slide out?

If like mine it will be a solid pipe which you have to disconnect from the manifold to give you some movement so that you can then disconnect from gas valve to slide oven out.

Oh dear, sounding worse by the minute. And would it need to be reconnected by a Gas-Safe engineer?

If you do disconnect it you must test for leaks before you put the oven back. If you are not confident then get a gas engineer to do it.

some will have a coil of pipe behind to allow enough movement to dissconnect
That's what I was hoping, but I will have to check the back of the oven from outside. I think I'll be able to see it, but not sure.
