Had passed its previous 6 MOT tests with no mention before!? Now no-one seems able to rectify this problem, unless we completely replace both headlights - at a cost of £800 + labour! Anyone got any other advice please?

This is interesting, sounds like the alignment is correct for a left hand drive vehicle......so if a right hand drive vehicle goes to europe, tape (or whatever) is placed to stop people being dazzled so surely if the primary use for the vehicle is in Europe then tape adjustment would be good enough for the UK ?

Just a thought no idea if im right or wrong.

On my old Hymer there is a lever hidden behind the headlights which adjusts the beam angle for left or right hand drive.
If you didn't know about this then you'd never find it as it so well hidden.
Just possibly your van has similar and the mechanics aren't aware of it, worth checking.

They are adjustable, even easier on a flair as I believe you can remove the panel with the headlamps on. If you look at the back of the headlamp it has slots to turn it through about 10 degrees, one way is left and the other way is right.

Better not to use beam benders on plastic headlamps.
