I have an intermittant fault showing a flashing red light on the dashboard anybody can assist me with rectifying what this fault is

I think you may need to be more specific. Where on the dashboard is it and if it is in the instrument panel what does the symbol look like? A photo would probably help.

Edit - also year of motorhome, and what base vehicle it is on

Its on the black plastic outer casing to the left of the intrument panel single red led light . It came on flashing whilst driving on M40 and stayed on for a few minutes then wen t off for a few minutes . This continued for the last hour of our journey
It is on a fiat alko chassis 2011.

If an after-fit it could be a step out/locker open light? Our previous motorhome would sometimes flash a light when going around corners and it turned out the step "home" switch needed a clean.

Narrowed the fault down to either the alarm or air pressure on the rear air suspension

I wondered about suspension after we spoke this morning, I guess you can put more air in and see what happens, you will be heavy in going away trim.
