Been going to France regularly since the early 70's but have never "done" Brittany. Can any of you more widely travelled folk recommend nice coastal / village / farm Aires in the region. We will be in and around the area throughout May. Our passions; lovely walks and views, good local food (mine seafood), and wine. Thanks in advance for your help.

Nice aire in my town Port Louis , Morbihan looks out over the Petite Mere Du Gavre. Some nice aires all along the south coast which will be warm and pleasant in May. (I'll be there at home)

Lots of Aires in the Presqu'ile de Guerande but this is our favourite: http://www.campercontact.com/en/fra.../42982/motorhome-parking-aire-de-brambel.aspx
DSCF0205 (600 x 450).jpg

Or this one nearby but with no services: http://www.campercontact.com/en/fra.../quimiac/42983/motorhome-parking-parking.aspx

The Fete Medieval in Guerande is on the 4th & 5th June this year, the walled town is worth a look anyway.

We liked Port de Dinan 48.454285 2.038393

There are no facilities but it's a very short walk to the port with plenty of bars and restaurants and a slightly longer one up the steps to the old town which is well worth exploring.

EDIT: There are no facilities at the aire but there is a service point fairly closeby in Dinan itself.

La Turballe - nice small town with a Marina & fishing harbour.

Arzan - close to beach. Not far to town (10 mins bike ride) with ginormous Marina. Boat trips around the gulf of Morbihan from Port Navalo.

Carnac - if you like stones:LOL: (and lots of them):D

Quiberon area - a couple of aires. Next to no facilities but a pleasant area. (The Savage Coast and it lives up to it's name).

Pointe du Raz - Very end of peninsular. Expensive aire with no facilities but an interesting place.

Landerneau is a favourite of mine, 3 minutes to the town on an old municipal site so you get your own pitch and electric for €6 a night.
Port Plerin is also very pleasant to stay at, if you're at the front good river views.

Just been around the coast from Roscoff to Piotou, now back home in Brittany.
We found a few nice Aires that we hadn't seen before, favourite one was at Nevez, Raguenez Plage. Tarmac parking for 10 vans ( may need chocks as its a bit sloping) overlooking the sea, lovely beaches to walk on, rock pools a plenty and an island to walk out to at low tide. Also a very nice but pricey restaurant a few yards away.
I'll try and post a couple of pics. There was one other van there when we were there on Saturday, who had a strange way of using his levelling chocks!

Had to post this picture of the French van on levelling chocks. People were walking past and taking photographs!

And here's a view from the edge of the aire itself.

Lots of walks along the beach and coastline, the end of the car park fills up with walkers in the early mornings.

All good advice (y) but you'll be out of luck with local wine, they don't really grow vines in Brittany :(

Not quite.... Gros Plant de Nantais or Muscadet are produced in the area of Nantes which although not now in the administrative region of Brittany is still considered as part of Brittany by the locals.....and the road sign writers:)

If using this aire ( as said before no services ), we use the aire in Lehon only 1.5 miles away , reasonable car park free services (personally I wouldn't spend the night unless desperate but ideal for water etc.
PARKING: FREE SERVICES: FREE

OPENING TIMES: ALL YEAR

GPS CO-ORDS: N48.44195 W02.04262

DIRECTIONS: From DINAN take D12 SOUTH to LEHON. Turn RIGHT @ LES OURS bar to AIRE (signposted) on RIGHT .

SITE DESCRIPTION This municipal aire is located on the southern edge of Dinan, on the western side of the small village of Lehon -- close to the Abbey & the river. The aire is in the large tarmac parking area outside the Tennis Club

We used a different service point, closer than that. It was just that though, service only with no parking. I can't remember exactly where it was though and our book is in the van in storage.

Helpful for us too as we plan to go back to Brittany later in the year. We only touched on the area around Cancal and Carnac on our last visit in '14 we spent more time in Brittany as we were engrossed by the WW2 museums and memorials

We stayed at Raguenez Plage, Nevez on Sunday evening - what a superb spot! Exactly as described by Allanm!

We arrived around 4.15 pm and were lucky to get one of the ten spaces, given it was a fine August afternoon. (y)

No facilities, but a stunning location and completely FOC. It's listed in the 'All the Aires France - North' 2014 edition, on page 44, entry number Brittany 147. There are a couple of pics. Loved the panoramic view through the cab window out to sea.

The restaurant looked OK, but the prices were eye-watering - mains €29 - €49, puds mostly €17

Thanks for the tip-off.

We stopped at the municipal campsite in Binic a few years ago. Had a wonderful time. Host very pleasant - invited us to their annual Hog-Roast / BBQ.

https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place...aa76ed20f9ebe8a!8m2!3d48.6063517!4d-2.8213681

Nice walk down to the beach and town.

We also stopped near St Malo at:

https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place...:0x19926b019e18c5!8m2!3d48.635236!4d-2.029189

Interesting walk around the marina - old WW11 gun turrets mashed up by incoming shells are very thought provoking. Sorry, can't remember how we got from there to St Malo.

Others have already mentioned Dinan, Guerande &c..

We've used all of the following:

Tregastel/Poul Palud, for easy access to Pink Granite coast Sentier des Douarniers path & Ile Renote. Supermarket over the road.

Carnac town centre, for seeing the rows of standing stones. Bike is easiest.

Concarneau old rail station, for the walled town in the harbour

St Guenole (no services) is the nearest aire to the Pointe de la Torche beaches. No overnight parking at the beaches, but daytime is OK.

On Quiberon there's Port Blanc/Porz Guen which has no services but is convenient for one of the few sandy beaches on the Cote Sauvage side. Easy to cycle from there to the rest of the peninsula.

Fougeres, two aires, the one next to the old chateau on a rock is preferable - the other's basically a car park.

There's a spacious aire at Arzon, but we didn't rate the immediate area much - it all seemed a bit too modern. Only an opinion mind.

There's a small aire at Locronan (quaint cobbled village) - we haven't used that one.

Just below Brittany you've got 5 small aires dotted around Le Croisic. The one by the marina is most convenient. Service point is at the other one round the corner but in a less pleasant spot.
