Seriously considering buying the 412GW, primarily because I like the ability to remove the camera to allow our blinds to close and for some of it's other features.

However I have read various comments on T'internet and here about reliability - does anyone have experience of the above product or the 312 from a reliability standpoint. (I know @lennyHB does!(y))

My problem was I was using a too slower memory card put the wrong card in an it doesn't work at all. Wouldn't be so bad it they told you it needs a class 10 card.
Anyway I bought a KB R50 very neat camera there is no screen, used it on my last trip and found out it sets the date by GPS it is not adjustable and in France only gave UK time. So on return I took it back and am now back with a 412GW and it works with the right card. Not used it in anger but it is all installed and looks promising.

Yep I looked at the Amazon reviews, not all of them, though! I had a squint at some of the 1 and 2 star reviews as well, hence the question.

Our Nextbase is dead after 15 months. The screen sucker regularly falls off, leading to the camera landing on hard things! Nature has eventually taken its course and the screen nor any of the buttons work.

Obviously don't know about reliability yet but I used the self adhesive mount rather than the sucker as was smaller and it sticks to black dot area at the top of the screen.

Getting Better
I recently bought a 312gw and have driven around Portugal’s bone shaking roads for 2wks now and haven’t had a problem.
Funnily I took it off the mount this afternoon to see some of the footage and it was really hot from the sun on the windscreen and I thought that’ll cook it but it must have been about 40c on that window all week and still is ok...

I use this card in it from My Memory at a very reasonable price...

My Nextbase failed after 2 years, nothing on the screen etc. However it turned out to be the memory card that had failed, put in a new one and all is well.

I'm a newbie and always will be. You never know it all.
I had a problem with my 312gw when i first bought it. Although I am more than happy with it now, it turns out the Nextbase cam is as already mentioned very sensitive to the class 10 card also you need to be aware that the software is the latest available. Netbase customer service IMHO are very good and all the instructions to update your software are available on their website.(y)

Its on offer at halfords ATM around £120 I think.

Was the self adhesive mount anything special or just the usual ones on fleabay?

There's one included in the box.

So are there 2 mounts 1 suction and 1 self adhesive in the box? Or do I need to order the dash cam with either suction or self adhesive? Only I can only find ones with a reference to the suction mount and so called self adhesive stealth mounts sold separately on fleabay.

These stealth mounts are excellent. Much smaller than the standard mount, 3D printed and 3M adhesive.
Very good purchase...

You get both in the box and the fleabay stealth mounts don’t look like they have the GPS part

Long time
We bought the Nextbase 412 about 2 months ago, no problems with it work well and is fine in the van or car, the sucker for sticking to the glass is fine just make sure all is clean and free from any grease or cleaners.
We sorted a bit of plastic for it to sit on in the van so it doesn’t interfere with the blinds-Hymer.:)

Yes. They come with both. You choose which to use.

I have a 412GW and like it. I fitted the adhesive mount in the MH, and the suction in car, so I can swap camera easily, using the magnetic mount. I also have the Nextbase hardwire kits - £15 from Amazon

For reliable dashcam you need reliable memory card. These can often give more trouble than the cameras themselves . Need at least class 10 and they dont last for ever with constant rewriting of data. No good spending on a decent camera and skimping on a memory card.

I looked at those. Not sure if they include the 2x piggy-back fuse holders - the fuse sizes in my MH and car are different. Also I sometimes worry about the quality of cheap non-branded electrical items on ebay.

I think the cheap ones lack gps and without gps there is no record of speed, time and date. Too easy for someone who has caused an accident to claim that you were speeding or deliberately accelerated at them, without this data.
